Rubbermaid Collapsibles Food Storage Container, 2 1/2-cup (NIS0007169123913). Collapses to a 1-inch height so it takes less space, and then expands to full-size. Crafted from durable plastic with a flexible rubber lid to prevent leaks. Safe for use in the freezer and microwave; cleans up in dishwasher. The lid and the bowl store together. Also available in 6-cup and 4-cup sizes. For nearly 80 years, Rubbermaid has represented innovative, high-quality products that help simplify life. Recognized as a “Brand of the Century” for its impact on the American way of life.
With the innovative Rubbermaid Collapsibles line, food storage is simpler, more versatile, and smarter on space. True to its name, this 2-1/2-cup Collapsibles container expands to full capacity with a simple push, but it can also be kept smaller for storing lesser amounts. If you have 2 cups of potato salad left over, you can store it all. But if you just have 1 cup of salsa to store, the bowl doesn't take up unnecessary space in the fridge. Better still, the piece collapses to 1 inch with the lid attached when empty, so you can avoid awkward stacks and frustrating lid-hunts. Tested for long-lasting durability and leak-resistance, both lid and bowl are safe in the microwave, freezer, and dishwasher. Collapsibles are also available in 4-cup and 6-cup sizes. --Emily Bedard

Still, it's been great having a collapsible bowl that can be microwaved in, and I find the 2.5 cup size is perfect. I may continue to look at other brands, tho, to see if I find one I like better.
I detracted a star for the annoying folding. If you squash the bottom inward to collapse it, the seams will fold in random directions and a random order which prevents it from being as small as it can go. Sometimes it will only fold to half of its fully opened height. In order to get it down to its minimum size, I carefully fold each seam individually.
It is stiff to unfold, but once open it doesn't easily squash back up with your leftovers inside.
Overall, it's handy. But don't plan to buy this model again.
using Styrofoam containers which aren't recyclable in my area. This folds down fairly small and seems just big enough to carry home
