My daughter loved this character from a book she got at the pre-school library (Ruby's Perfect Day) - and I ordered this book, as well as the other 2 in the series, and expected it to be the same book. It is not. The version the school library had was secular, and this version, as well as the other two in the series, had several additional pages added including references to G-d and bible verses. Not happy, but my aunt gave them to her niece, so not a total loss. Buyer beware, if you're looking for the secular versions, check the ISBN numbers to make sure you're getting the right copies.

This is a gentle story about Ruby, a raccoon, who wants to bake a cake. The only problem is she doesn't know how! She asks her friends what to put into the cake, and the result is very interesting. The story is a lesson on kindness, good manners and friendship.

We purchased this after checking out Ruby's Perfect Day from the library. We then discovered that this was a Christian book with God that and God Bless this all over it. If you want a Christian book, then buy this, if you want to just have a nice kids story, make sure to not buy this or get the secular version.

Another sweet Ruby book! Ruby wants to bake a cake, but she doesn't know how to do it. She consults her friends, and they all give her a different item to include, to their liking. It's so cute how they suggest nuts, carrot tops, snails, wiggly worms, and flies. What's funnier is that Ruby goes home and includes each thing! She's a bit concerned about how it smells, but her friends still come over to eat it. Despite Ruby saying it doesn't taste good, her friends encourage her. They compliment it's size, shape, color, and how juicy it is. Ruby thanks God for her friends and the cake!
