The Ruby Blade picks up where it left off in The Waning Moon, except instead of Isaac being Eleanor’s werewolf companion, she now has Emma, Isaac’s ex-girlfriend, who has been a vampire’s prisoners for years. I have to say, I really did not like Emma at all in the beginning. I understand that she was tortured and still cared for Isaac, but I really didn’t like the way she treated/spoke to Eleanor. Highly judgmental, though I guess she comes from a different time. However, she grew on me. Amy Cissell got me to care about Barbie Werewolf. She’s had quite a bit of growth in this book, and while she still calls Eleanor names, they come from a better place. She cares.
Now that Eleanor’s mate has sacrificed himself for his ex-girlfriend, doing the noble thing, he has left Eleanor free to accept Raj’s pursuit. She’s taking things pretty slow because, ya know, the whole betrayal thing. She’s also doing it for her own sake of getting hurt again. Raj has waited this long, knows they are inevitable, and he doesn’t want to be a regret to her, so he is willing. I love this about him. I’m totally on Team Raj. Emma can have Isaac back. Let Eleanor have her sexy vampire!
We also get to learn more about Raj, his history and his children, one of which who joins them (Petrina). Finn is as nuts as ever. He’s got it bad for Eleanor and just won’t give up. And despite all that Eleanor is put through, she is still as quirky and witty as ever. This has been a fun series and I get sucked in every time. I can’t wait for the next book, and now that they left New Orleans, you know what that means? Bring on Raj!!! *Grins*
