I’m at such a loss to write this review, simply because this book was so good, surprising, in so many area’s I just don’t know where to start.
We get a snap shot of Diego and his childhood, and what happened to structure him into manhood.
Then we see him in college and meeting Beck for the first time. As they go through the years, we learn more and more about all the main characters, Beck, Diego, and Denise.
Now, all three of them have graduated and working real jobs. Problem is, Beck and Denise both work for a top secret agency. And slowly the secrets is stressing the relationship. Diego is slowly going mad with his feelings for Beck. As the dynamic of the relationship starts to change, Diego starts to revisit his past, his beliefs, strengths and weakness.
I really enjoy learning about Diego, his heritage, his family. We really didn’t learn anything about Beck and his past, but I’m sure that’s to come. Once Beck and Diego finally stop dancing around each other and get down to business, the chemistry between them is amazing in and out of the bedroom. The dominance that Beck shows towards Diego is steamy HAWT. The power exchange… (fan myself)
The twist of the paranormal was unsuspected and truly fantastic. The details we get are so amazing, this author is probably the best author I know for world building. She is so amazing, making us fall into the characters so we actually become them.
We aren’t left with a cliffy, as such but you absolutely know this story is left in a pivotal moment. And I absolutely need the next NOW!

So, I recently reread the first edition of this story to see what, if anything had changed in the second edition. I really enjoyed the first edition upon my first reading and liked it even more on my second so was looking forward to reading it for a third time.
This edition, however, is heavily re-edited, rearranged and slightly expanded. It takes us longer to get to the action and so the story feels a little more drawn out and not as dynamic. More happens, but I felt it lost some of the compact, edge of your seat, energy the first edition held. As well the text contained quite a few artifacts left from the editing and rearranging process; things being known before they are mentioned, other things referenced as if they are unknown when they’ve been stated.
However, the story itself is still great! I liked getting more of Diego’s backstory – that was one thing I missed from the first edition. I loved Diego even more and we see more of the connection between him and Beck. Denise plays a greater role and she is awesome. The paranormal world is just being shown to us but the hints are insightful and provide a good foundation for the series.
The sex was stellar – Ohh the dirty talk and dominance in the bedroom! Lexi can write steamy scenes. There is only the one, but it is enough!
So while I was a little disappointed in the editing of this second edition, I did like most of the changes and I loved the story! I can’t wait for the next book.
Diego is a likeable hero type guy. There's violence, which I appreciate, but other readers might not. And it's a quick read, which again, I appreciate. I read it in two glorious, indulgent nights, and enjoyed every page.
I love the MC's Diego and Beck two amazing people with hard histories who find love with each other I can't wait for the next story.
