First I would like to say that I'm 64 years old who truly enjoys reading young adult books. If I've enjoyed reading one and feel that it's age appropriate I typically share it with my 15 year old granddaughter who's an avid reader. I waited until I read all 5 of Flea's Five Christmases before I wrote this review. First I would like to congratulate Kevin George on a well written young adult series. The characters were well developed and provided me with the feeling that I really knew them. I was caught up in the highs and lows of each character. George even showed how even bad elves can find redemption under the most dire of circumstances, George used similar situations and personalities that were in Harry Potter (eg. 3 friends, 2 boys and a girl, a nemesis like Malfoy, an elusive father figure of Santa Claus similar as Dumbledore was to Harry Potter). I must say I found it hard to put the book down to attend to my everyday duties. Each book dovetailed perfectly to the next and the ending of the South Pole Challenge (the final book) was a complete surprise to me. Whether you're a mature or young adult this series is definitely worth your time to read.

That is my grandson's rating. As for me, that is an understatement -- 'cause watching him jump and dance makes the time we spend reading the best hours of my week.
Oh, and by the way, you get the REAL scoop on Rudolph

I loved the first book, the second book was better than the first! Can't wait to get into the third and continue the adventure. This series is alot like the Harry Potter series, as its got magic and danger and friends and adventure that makes this series very exciting. Love it!

an interesting new way to look at Christmas!
I am enjoying the whole series and am actually up to the 5th (And final) book.
I like many of the characters but find myself a little lost about some of this. First teh book seems written towards young adults but then some of the themes seem a little off age for that. (some ideas are a little to simple others maybe a little too complex.) still you do get wrapped up in the characters!
I can appreciate the experiences of "Flea" the main character and I can also sympathize with him. This book does a great job of pointing out the perils of miscommunication or assuming too much.

The main problem I am having is more with the quality of the writing in the later books. in some of them there are misspellings and mixing up of character names which seems to get worse as you progress through the series.

My other issues are more personal to me like the way that the author seems to be making a whole new history for Christmas that interfered with my idea of the season. But that one IS a purely personal issue. Sometimes it is hard to "give up" a cherished ideal.
I also would have liked to see more personal growth on the part of Niko. (possible spoiler alert here!)

He is supposed to be one of the most important elves at the North Pole but he starts out assuming the worst and even when he has had the experience of seeing the reality of things he still stubbornly clings to what he thinks and refuses to see what is right in front of him. I would expect more of someone in such a position. Still, I suppose, that is the way people usually are so maybe I expect too much out of my fictional characters.

Unfortunately I would probably give books later in the series a lower grade but over all this is a good series that starts well and you will want to follow the whole series just so you can find out what REALLY happens.

My 10 yo son has read this entire series. He LOVED them and spent 1-2 each night reading them. It can be hard for me to find books that he really gets into and if he like the first book he reads them all. These inspired not only pure belly laughs but anticipation and excitement of what was coming next! I would highly recommend this entire series! BN needs to get this author's works also!

This book keeps you guessing until the end. You think you know what is going on the entire time but you don't. If you like a good story series with a whimsical, dramatic, action packed theme this series is full of them.

This is a very solid follow up to the first book. This time Flea is "fitting in" to the life at the North Pole. Soon he find outs that Jack Frost is planning an attack, Frost can't be found. Flea soon finds out that the danger is much, much closer than he thinks and soon finds that he's been betrayed by someone. With all of this going on, he learns some new things about his family. Honestly, that's all I can say about the plot, anything more would be spoilers.

I really liked how Flea was fitting in. He took part in some snow games and against many different people that's at the North Pole. Think of it as the Triwizard Torment from the Potter books. After this is done, Flea learns of an attack at from Jack Frost, but soon Flea learns that everything isn't as it seems. I really like that the character of Flea is growing and developing.

I can't enough good things about this book series. If you have a child that doesn't like to read, then I highly suggest you introduce them to this series they'll be hooked.

I'm so happy I found this series. I have an eceletic taste in reading - instructions, back of cereal boxes, pretty much anything. This series as found a home in my heart. The writing keeps me turning the page and it's not a murder mystery. Good guys and bad guys are wonderfully written. Enjoy!
