5.0 out of 5 stars Rug Doctor Deep Carpet Cleaner vs. Bissell Deep Clean Professional Pet
By Consumer Advocate on July 21, 2017
4 years ago I purchased Bissell Deep Clean Professional Pet for $199.99 at a warehouse club. Recently decided it just wasn't doing the job because aside from my dog tracking in dirt, I track in even more from my garage workshop. Phoned a professional cleaning service and they wanted $150 just to do high traffic and stairs. Researched online and decided to try Rug Doctor for $234. In order to do a 100% fair comparison, I used the Bissell Liquid in the Rug Doctor so I could see REAL differences between the machines. .

Size. My photo shows that both machines very similar in size and both weigh about 30 pounds.
OFF Maneuverability. Rug Doctor has larger wheels so easier to move over doorways & stairs.
ON Maneuverability. Rug Doctor practically moves itself while you press the "SOAP & SCRUB" button vs. Bissell which requires more human pulling power.
Noise. Both machines loud enough to keep my dog away (and louder than my Shark vacuums).
Water tanks. Bissel has 1 tank with a bladder that holds both clear & waste waters. Rug Doctor has separate tanks which I found easier to fill & dump.
CLEANING RESULTS. Rug Doctor does visibly better job of cleaning carpets. In fact, I'd say it's 90% as good as the last outside cleaning service I hired (with their fancy tank on a truck). Bissell always left me disappointed.
Machine cleaning. Dog hair clogged up the "head" of my Bisseel, which required me to spend about 20 minutes disassembling and reassembling. Rug Doctor has a much better design that lets you clean the rotating brush in seconds.
BOTTOM LINE: Unless you can't afford the price difference, buy the Rug Doctor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Flawed machine, DO NOT BUY!
By Michelle on November 11, 2017
PLEASE DON'T IGNORE THIS REVIEW! I purchased this machine and on my first use the suction blew out the wastewater tank. They put me on a list and sent a new one. Tried the machine again. It worked for one tank, filled it up again and pop, blew out the new wastewater tank. Rug doctor said they will send me another but it will take time because it is backordered. That should tell you something folks. Like me I would guess you have had carpet cleaners before and never have any of the tanks broke and these people can't keep them in stock. Now I will only get an 80% refund because I am just past the 30 day window to return it. The people at rug doctor are terrible. They acknowledge there is a flaw with this machine but will do nothing but send a new tank, again acknowledging that after the first year you will be on your own. This is my first ever review. I am just sick over this. If you choose to ignore this review and purchase this machine you will regret it. Looking back I now see on many other reviews people have this problem. DO NOT BUY. I will attach my correspondence to rug doctor as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good machine - but keeping it clean is not so easy
By Amazon Customer on January 4, 2016
When I first got the machine I had the same trouble others had posted. No water would spray. I contacted the Corporate Office and they exchanged the machine for me right away. I was very happy with their attention to fixing this problem.
After I got the machine I went to use it. I was VERY pleased with the machine. You don't push the machine forward you pull back towards you which seemed odd, but I got used to it. The thing that has caused me to only give it 3 stars is the fact that the front of the machine - the area that sucks up all the dirt - you can't remove it to clean it. I contacted the company to find out how to remove it and was told it does not come off. The person that responded to my inquiry gave these directions "Cleaning the Deep Carpet Cleaner is best done as soon as you are finished using the machine. I normally lay the machine on the back and then wipe down the inside of the housing with a wet rag wrapped around my finger. The brush has enough movement for me to fit my fingers behind it to clean. To get up in front of the brush I will also wrap my wet cloth around a small object, I normally use a ruler, and push up in front of the brush to wipe down the front housing. Remove any lint, hair or other matter that may be stuck to the brush and wipe it down with a cloth to remove any dirt as well." While I do appreciate the advice, it is my opinion that any part of the machine that has constant contact with the dirt and grime that is being sucked up should be removable to keep clean. I shouldn't have to shove a ruler up into it to clean it.
