Cheap And Tastes Great??! Yes, Please!

I get car sick if I'm not driving which is rarely. A couple months ago I got so car sick riding in the front seat while on a flat highway, only an hour drive. I puked 4x. That had never happened before. It got worse throughout the day standing on solid ground & I ended up with vertigo.
So my 10 day trip building latrines in Honduras with hours of bumpy, mountain dirt roads had me a little nervous. I read lots of reviews. My goal was to not be a liability to the group. I did not want to be sleepy or sick. I made a plan based off of a reviewer's advice from her Costa Rica trip.
Meclizine 25mg before bed & again before my feet hit the floor in the morning.
1/2 Driminate 50mg (as in 25mg) when we got in the trucks to leave in the morning & the other 1/2 as we got back in the trucks in the late afternoons to leave.
I. Felt. Amazing. I sat in the back seat the Entire time & never once felt sick or sleepy. It was such an incredible feeling to have a clear head, clear breathing, eyes that didn't feel strained.
Anyone who doesn't want the sleepy side affect, this is a great plan that's only 1 dose of each kind a day but a smaller more continual stream to stay balanced.
*This chewable Rugby meclizine is a shining 10 compared to Bonine chewable raspberry 😝
If I didn't have that to compare it to I'd shrug & say it tastes fine. Now I think it's deliciousness.

So others are clear, this motion sickness medication is "meclizine," found in Dramamine's "Less Drowsy" line of medications. The original Dramamine is "dimenhydrinate." Therefore, you can think of this Rugby brand travel sickness tablet as the less drowsy type of motion sickness medication.

It seemed to have worked quite well for me during my last cruise, which had a very rocky day at sea. While the medication wasn't a miracle drug, it made the swaying ship much more tolerable than it had been prior to taking the medication. At the very least, it allowed me to eat and watch the shows on the cruise and not stuck in my room feeling ill. This was a lesson learned after my prior cruise, when I didn't think to bring any motion sickness medications. Whether it is actually less drowsy is hard to say. Whenever the boat is swaying, I'm naturally inclined to stay lying down anyway. But on the days when I took this medication ahead of any boat swaying, it did not make me feel drowsy.

Originally, I had wanted the non-chewable type because I'm not a fan of the included artificial sweetener. But they were out of stock of the non-chewable type. This chewable version is actually not as bad as I would have guessed, with the sweetener making it just sweet enough to make it palatable.

Carry these with me for vertigo

I keep these on me all of the time for vertigo, which comes and goes without warning. They help with nausea. They're very expensive in drug stores in small quantities, but this is a good buy if you use these on the regular and need more than 8.

Qualifier - I have gastroparesis and have moderate to severe nausea often. I am not using this product for motion sickness. I also have tried prescription nausea medications. Zofran gives me terrible migraines, unfortunately. Many people find it a godsend for nausea - they use high doses for chemo patients. Phenergan works better, but it makes me drowsy and I have a fairly high tolerance to it. It is an antihistamine - like most OTC nausea medications. This is likely why this product is ineffective for me. I do think it was worth trying, however. I do think it would be helpful for many - the price is low, the tablets are chewable (you can take them anywhere without water, major plus), and a higher strength is prescribed by doctors, so effectiveness is there.

Do be aware this causes drowsiness - dont drink alcohol on top of this. I get it, you're on a cruise and you feel better, but seriously, it isn't worth it. Also, be sure to check medication interactions with prescribed medications, other OTC meds, and supplements. There are lots of online drug interaction checkers to choose from. Any pharmacist can do this as well - or you can call your doctor. I had a very scary reaction to cough syrup once because I didn't check drug interactions. You know, it was just NyQuil, right? Took the recommended dose too - not a swig out of the bottle. So please, be careful.

These are literally my favorite and I keep buying more when I run out because I love them that much. Dramamine (including non-drowsy) makes me too sleepy and so I miss a lot of the good stuff when traveling. This alleviates the nausea and headaches while allowing me to still be awake. I’ve used it for planes, cars, and a cruise ship. I’m not one to throw up, but I get nauseous in elevators. This works so well for me. Give it a try if you’re not a Dramamine fan. The flavor is meh, for medicine. It’s doable for me.

I bought these to take on a cruise for motion sickness. I ended up not needing them because I decided to wear wrist bands, but my sister who was also traveling with me needed something because she got sea sick on board. She was hesitant because she'd never heard of this brand before, she normally take Dramamine but she tried these pills anyway. These definitely worked for her and they helped her tremendously. These pills are chew-able which is great and they are fast acting and easy to take.

I purchased this prior to a boat trip. It is much cheaper than Bonine, especially what they charge on the boat, and it is the same ingredient. They are chewable. My son and I each took one before we took off, and neither of us experienced any seasickness--we did hit some rough waters. I don't know if it was from these tablets because I've never had motion sickness. Neither of us experienced any drowsiness or dry mouth either. At this price, I figured I would be proactive and take these. I also used the wrist bands and over-the-counter stick on patches. Overkill? Yes, but it was a six-hour boat ride that I did not want to be ruined.
