If Ruin were a real man and not a character in a book, I'd be in love with him!
I truly LOVE this series. I've never been a paranormal fan, but these books - (and Lucian Bane) - have turned me into one.
This is the continuation of Ruin and Isadores journey to complete his missions and discover just what it is they are seeking. The closer they get to the end, the farther away they are from where they need to be.
Izzy is her usual stubborn, defiant self in this book. She interferes when she shouldn't and it isn't until Ruin quotes scripture to her does she start to understand him better. We are introduced to a new character, whom I instantly loved, Scriber.
Ruin still needs Izzy, even though she refuses to believe that. He is still brutally honest, and is the epitome of walking sex.
I again, read this book in one sitting, because it sucks you in and holds you tight. The twists in the plot this time had me gasping out loud.
Being that this is a series, and each book is a continuation of the previous, there is a cliffhanger, and this one is a big one! Thankfully, Lucian tends to write fast, so I know I won't have to wait too long for book 4!
Isadore is really coming into her own and finding that she really does have to ability and strength to protect herself and those she loves. The support, respect and love she gives to this mysterious and dangerous being is what a true woman and survivor of love and war does and I respect her for this.
Ah, SCRIBER!! *thud* How dire and yet moving this new character is, his serious messages are conveyed as creepy, yet meaningful and the suspense of not knowing who or what he is... is just so... so... AMAZING! I WANT HIM! LOL!
I absolutely adore this author style of writing as he always puts his stamp on the true things that matter in life and that is love, respect, commitment, protective instincts, laughter and living life to the utmost extreme.
Lucian Bane is an amazingly talented writer. Any time an author can grab you with the first few sentences of a book and hold you hostage until you turn the last page, that's a gift. Any time an author can cause emotions to rise up in you that match how the characters are feeling, that's a gift. Any time an author can transport you from the room where you're reading, into the center of the story and make it play like a movie, that is a gift. Lucian does all of these and he does them so well, it almost seems effortless.
Don't judge this book based on any other Paranormal Romance you've ever read. Ruin is a series that is unlike any other. I've never seen such detail and and character development like this. The growth of Ruin and Isadore is astounding. The feelings they each experience are no fantasy. They are very much real and are feelings we experience daily. The fear of the unknown, the angst after hurting someone you love, the pain of being hurt and completely misunderstood, the need and desire that build and threaten to take over when erotic passion is released. These feelings are what Ruin and Isadore experience and it makes them relatable, human, real.
I'm amazed that I am even more in awe and even more drawn in with each subsequent book than I was with the previous. But don't take my word for it. Read the series yourself and you will see exactly what I mean. The Ruin series ranks in the top three best series' I've read in 2014. Five well deserved, honestly earned, big beautiful and bright stars!!!
I was very hesitant to give this series a try, but now I'm hooked and can't wait for the next one. One click them, you won't be disappointed.
