Ruin Me is book one in Caleb and Ruby’s duet and book three in the Hawthorn Hills Duet Series. A two-part, slow-burn, broken love story. Ruin Me must be read before Rescue Me in order to enjoy the full story.
Life at its worst can be ruining.
Caleb Parker is broken and lost, and her support is everything. But she has no idea how deep his trauma runs.
Ruby Collins is his sister's best friend and his new roommate. Broken as he is, he knows he should keep his distance.
But when Ruby’s professor lurks too closely, Caleb steps in. And what was meant to be a ruse, turns into so much more.
Together they can heal each other, but it’s the past that nearly ruins them.
The Hawthorn Hills Duet Series follows eight couples. Each two-book duet must be read in order to enjoy the couple’s full story, but the series can be read in any order. You’ll find angst-filled, slow-burn, epic love stories along with topical storylines and some amazingly real and raw characters.

Editorial Reviews
Review
"This book was fantastic. Watching Caleb and Ruby fight their obvious attraction to each other was just the type of slow burn that I love." ~Stacie, The Banker and the Book Nerd.
"This was NOT the story I had somehow created in my mind about Caleb and Ruby. It was so much better though. It was true and raw and so damn real, with real life problems." ~Ele, The Obsessive Bookworm.
"An emotionally complex story of the true struggles of navigating life and a relationship with PTSD. While the narrative offers some witty banter, charismatic characters, and easy energy, Claire Raye does not shy away from the truth of this disorder." ~Terra, Wayward Readers.

About the author

Not only is Claire Raye a really sweet pen name, it’s actually a pen name for two sarcastic best friends who met through their mutual love of reading. After bonding over books (and wine and cheese), they decided to take the plunge and see if they could write a book together and ta dah... The Rockport Beach Series was born! In addition to their shared love of food and dropping an occasional (read, a lot of) f bombs, the writing duo that is Claire Raye like to write about strong, sassy females who aren’t afraid to say what’s on their mind and the overprotective men who fall in love with them.
Both halves of Claire Raye are married and both of their husbands have a cheeky side that gets plenty of airtime in their books. From their smart mouths to their witty one-liners, there’s plenty of material to use for all those alpha males they love to write about.
While Claire Raye isn’t sure they’ll ever reveal who they really are —there’s just something about your co-workers knowing you write erotic love scenes that makes having a pen name that much easier— they’re definitely going to keep on writing. Plans are already underway for the next series, which is sure to feature plenty of sass, steam and humor, and of course, a happily ever after!

Ruin Me is the 3rd book in the Hawthorn Hills Duet Series and the first part in the Caleb and Ruby Duet and picks up right where Complete Me, Sienna and Reid's duet left off. Caleb Parker believes he's broken, irreparable and forever changed by the events that happened to him. Ruby Collins wants nothing more than to help Caleb heal and find a new life in California.
Ruin Me was an emotionally charged and story that addressed the very real struggle of living with PTSD and the short term and long term effects it can have on you and the people in your life. What starts out as a tentative friendship between the two develops into a trusting relationship full of hilarious banter, sexual chemistry and most importantly the support that they give each other.
The tension between Caleb and Ruby was palpable, the sexual chemistry was second to none and so addictive to read. Caleb and Ruby had the type of relationship where they supported each other and brought out the best in each other, I loved the push and the pull between these two characters. Ruby was such a strong female character and I loved the way she offered Caleb techniques to work through his PTSD and supported him without being pushy. She was honest with him about the recovery process and listened when he needed her too. Ruby was so incredibly good for Caleb.
Ruin Me was a complex story of healing and ended on one heck of cliff hanger making everyone who reads Caleb and Ruby's duet desperate for Rescue Me the conclusion to there steamy and slow burn romance.
I’ve been impatiently waiting for this book since Claire Raye introduced readers to Caleb and Ruby in the first two books of the Hawthorne Hills books. This book was fantastic. Watching Caleb and Ruby fight their obvious attraction to each other was just the type of slow burn that I love. Just the two of them and how right they seem for each other. Yes Caleb has many demons to face, but Ruby brings a lightness to him that is hard to ignore.
I won’t say too much, just know we have another cliffhanger on our hands at the end of this one. I can’t wait for the next book to see how things play out for Ruby and Caleb, as well as Sienna and Reid. I love that they are all such an integral part of each other’s lives and stories. I also love that this book is full of hope. Hope for Caleb and Ruby to be able to be together, hope for Caleb to be able to cope and try to put the trauma’s he faced in the past, and hope for Caleb, Sienna and Reid to be able to move forward.
This was a great addition to the Hawthorn Hills Duets, and the anticipation for the next book is already killing me!! I absolutely loved this story and I can’t wait for ‘Rescue Me’!
I knew I was going to love Caleb, and I was right. I’m totally in love with him. I also knew this story was going to mess me up, and it totally did that too.
This poor strong, broken boy 😭. My heart hurts for him. The way he’s trying so hard to recover from his trauma— to trust and love again. Gaaaaah. I just want to hug him so tight.
I absolutely love Ruby for him. Their connection is so beautiful, and the way she’s helping to heal him fills me with so much hope.
In true Claire Raye fashion, there are a few really powerful messages woven throughout the story, but this romance shines so bright. It’s a slowish burn with lotssss of fiery sexual tension and an intense level of chemistry. It’s hot and emotional and I felt it deep.
But that cliff hanger? Jeebus help me, I need book two so badly. I’m in love with this couple and they are totally breaking me 😭. Luckily, Claire Raye promised that book two will be out soon, and they’re always true to their word!
