•Miah, the lead singer, is glue to the group (or so he thinks). He is hyper, cocky and the biggest slut ever (different day – different woman). His character makes you laugh one minute and question his sanity the next.
•Ritchie, the drummer, is the mama bear trying to tame the cubs. He is the shoulder everyone leans on (amongst other things ****giggle***) and always trying to keep the peace.
•Finn, the guitarist, is the sexy, candy sucking rock GOD!
•Evin, the bassist, is the newbie to the group. He is shy/reserved and completely in lust with the straight boys of Resonator (at least he thinks they are)
Miah, Ritchie & Finn have been BFFs since childhood growing up on the wrong side of Detroit. Evin and his band are suppose to go on tour as the opening act for Resonator, but misfortune takes away that opportunity…….Without spoiling too much……Evin gets a second chance and goes on tour with them. Cue in the sexual tension between a few band mates, a voyeur scene (HOT), and an offer no one wants to refuse and you have yourself one of the hottest books around.
McAuley & Peterson (my first read by both authors) give great detail to everything from what each character is feeling, what is going on while playing on stage, how their body reacts with the contact from another….I mean holy heaven I was either panting and fanning myself from the sexiness of the story or holding my breath hoping everything doesn’t fall apart.
The flow of the book was exactly what I was not expecting….I was expecting a fast pace, hard rock story that gave more sex than story, but I was completely wrong. Yes – there is HOT, steamy, you–will-need-a-cold-shower sex, but OMG there was a fantastic story as well. It had everything you want in a book…..Character development, laughter, heartbreak, tears of frustration and of love. You will fall in love with Rez.
What do you do when the lies you tell could destroy everything you’ve always wanted? The answer to that is……READ.THIS.BOOK to find out I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!!! …..AND I am really hoping that there will be a book 2 so we can see what happens with Miah & Ritchie (because those 2 stubborn A$$ES need to get their crap together)

Ruin Porn - pictures of destruction because it's fascinating -
"...because people get off on seeing what happens when civilization is left to rot. When something goes from being deeply loved to thoroughly forsaken, there's curiosity...We own our ruin porn, we embrace it, and yet we also own that it's our responsibility to learn from it and change."
The whole idea behind the title and what it means is pretty profound and good starting place for this review. Because to be honest I didn't the title or the cover until after I read the book and then it all falls into place and makes perfect sense. This book does not look like the others that are loaded into my Kindle and it is not quite the same as any of them either. While there is definitely a level of predictable-ness there was something different and deeper about this story.
This story is filled with equal parts laughter, angst, hotness, torment and story. Kevin who is about to become Evin is brought into the rock world by the band Resonator. And the introduction into their world is not a slow process, it more like a running leap off a cliff. There is no warm up, there is just all-in on a European tour. Resonator had been made up by the Detroit 3; Finn, Richie and Miah. These three had been childhood friends are more like family then anything else. They know each other down the very marrow of their beings. They have idiosyncrasies that make them each unique and fully developed. Evin comes in as an outsider but is quickly embraced by these three during their tour. We learn that each member carries secrets and burdens that have not been shared. They all have histories and have made sacrifices to get to where they are now. Evin is just the newest one along for the ride.
"Lies were his new truth. He no longer recognized the Evin he'd become."
Evin went on this journey as who he was, but didn't come out that way. Things for him changed and hiding truths became an everyday occurrence. He had a crush on lead guitarist, Finn, well before he became his band mate. Then once he found out that Finn was not just a fantasy things got pretty heated, pretty fast. Evin was living his dream and the band was on top of the world. But hiding and needing a buffer to make sure this "thing" stayed a secret became a burden and eventually one too big to continue.
"How something so great had turned so f*@king wrong so f*@king fast."
We start the book at the end and are brought through the rise and fall of Resonator. We see what happened through each of their eyes and see the lies and secrets build up. We also see the moments when nothing can stop them and you wonder where could it possibly fall apart.
There is a depth to this story; you get a true picture of these characters and what they are made of. From Miah's cleansing, to Finn's lollipops, to Richie's mothering/moderating to Evin's figuring it all out, I fell in love with these guys even when they did things that were hurtful and wrong. While one part of this story was wrapped up the end, there is another part that is not complete. I became attached and want to know how everything else plays out.
"We're Resonator, and we're here to ruin you."
