So I jumped in this series half way through, but knowing Marie Harte I knew it would be worth it. Ruining Mr. Perfect is book three in Marie's McCauley Brothers series and is about the two black sheep of the group, so of course they would be perfect for each other. I enjoyed reading parts of this book. I enjoyed the chemistry between Vanessa and Cameron and their relationship with their families; but at times they came across, very well for the lack of better words, mean. It made me think What The F*ck, why do I like these people? But that's family for you and that is one thing I do like about Marie Harte's writing her families are loyal and have very strong familial ties but that does not mean they don't bug the crap out of each other and at times hate each other. Cameron I loved, a bit over sensitive, but at least he is in touch with his emotions and doesn't ignore them, like his father. Vanessa I was a bit on the fence about she is a great snarky smart ass but at times too much of a Bitch, yes capital B kind of bitch, straight forward and blunt even if the truth hurts and you sort of hate her for it... sometimes.

Cameron McCauley has waited long enough to seduce his brother's sexy next door neighbor. His other brother and cousin have claimed their girls and are now wrapped nicely around their little fingers. Vanessa is hesitant when Cameron makes his move but she has been drooling over him for so long she gives in. Vanessa is scared of commitment and she likes to the one in control and hates to admit she wrong. With her standoffishness and Cameron's oversensitivity they go about things the wrong way but after they cool down and see things from each other perspective they work it out.

Ruining Mr. Perfect is the 3rd book in The McCauley Brothers series by Marie Harte. This one continues where the last one, How to Handle a Heartbreaker, left off and features Vanessa and Cameron. It took me a long time to read this one because I had a really hard time getting in to it. It bored me at times. I’m not sure if it was the writing or if I was just in the mood for something with more excitement. It was well written and the characters are nicely done, the story just didn’t grab me. I liked Cam (Cameron) and I liked Vanessa, most of the time. Unfortunately, together I felt they were a little dull, though the sex scenes were steamy. There were some good scenes that brought life to the story, but overall it just didn’t engage me.

The dynamic and teasing between Vanessa and her roommates, as well as between Cam and his brothers, struck me as more then friendly teasing. They seemed blind to the fact that some of the teasing was hurtful. It just seemed immature and I didn’t find it funny. Lastly, there is some angst thrown into Vanessa and Cam’s relationship towards the end, using a common plot device that I personally don’t enjoy.

Ruining Mr. Perfect has a side story with Beth and James, Cam’s parents. I was happy to see the issue between them addressed in this book. This story also sets up the next book between Mike and Del. Mike isn’t off to a good start with Del. In fact he was a jerk to her and came off as an ass. I can only hope that he will redeem himself to her.

In conclusion, while Ruining Mr. Perfect is well written it wasn’t the type of story or romance that I care for.

HEA, no cheating.

Well written, a nice light read. I enjoyed this book, without even having read the previous two books in the series (connected but no cliffies). I liked the characters mostly but the found the heroine hard to take. She was so bullish and masculine it seemed less a romance at times and more like the chronicles of Van-zilla. I am definitely one of those readers for whom the heroine and her character has to be likable, if not the book won't work for me as a romance.

I love the entire series. I thought I would not like this because it was about Vanessa & Cameron but it was the total opposite. Their quick wit gave several lol moments and I got to like the characters even more. It would be better to read the first books. Vanessa kept preaching that her parents did not show emotions or hug her, yet they had her so there must have passion somewhere along the line. Vanessa turned out with similar tendencies so I wanted to see how the author would work around this and she did well. I thought that they both left at times when they should not but it was not totally unrealistic. The only thing I did not like so much was the ending. It ended okay but I would have liked more. if you do not like spoilers, do not read more. I would have wanted to know if they got married before the baby or after and how Vanessa handled that being that she does not like to show emotions. The epilogue ended with a preview of what will happen with the next brother and that was fun. We kind of already knew who Mike end up with without doing the epilogue. The epilogue should have remained with the main characters in this book but I am hoping the author addresses this for a bit in a follow up book.
