Brogan Starr, CEO of Star Media has a set of rules in place because he wants his company to be the best it can be. Lainey has caught his interest but he has rules for a reason and one line he does not want to cross is dating an employee. When Lainey takes over walking his dog they form a friendship and it is only a matter of time before that builds into something more. Can there be a happily ever after when they break the rules?
This was so funny. I loved this book, a real treat. Lainey is this quirky girl who has a way of putting her foot in her mouth. Brogan has a an air of broody throw in a touch of sexy, you have a fantastic hero. Definitely checking out more from this author.
Told from Lainey's POV
Minor editing issues
I was really excited to read this book. The summary alone made me laugh so I couldn't wait to see what the book had to offer. Laughs I got in spades. Hanky panky not so much. I was bummed that I didn't get any fun scenes with the tattooed hottie but the laughs made the book worth it.
Lainey is a recent MBA grad looking to make it big in the marketing world. In a Devil Wears Prada scenario she seems in over her head from the start. Having a hateful co-worker training you doesn't make life any better. No one expects her to last but she does. Even after calling the CEO the antichrist straight to his face.
Brogan is the tattooed hunk CEO of Starr Media. The company is his life and he won't let anything or anyone jeopardize that. Hence the book of 200+ rules every employee must follow. (Down to not eating garlic in the office)
They are literally polar opposites but you know what they say... opposites really do attract. Even when rule 167 says they can't.
Insert a million laughs, a bunch of sighs, a few oh no moments and you have yourself a great book. The only thing I was bummed about was not hearing things from Brogans prospective. Bet it would have been pretty interesting.
On a side note, I loved that this was set in the PNW, especially by an author from the area. Voodoo Doughnuts is worth the drive from SEA to PDX and the heroine is a Beaver Believer (#DucksSuck). Plus I’ll add that it’s not just transplants that use umbrellas, you can spot a tourist a mile away with one too. ;)
