Lauren is a nice southern girl, who has lived a hippy life style for the last few years, much to her parents dislike. So Lauren buckles under the pressure from her parents and dates someone they would have approved of. Well that is until New Year’s Eve, where we find Lauren in a dive bar, after being dumped by a guy she has been seeing for the last 6 months. She is not really heartbroken, but her pride and trust is hurt.
Then Jackson comes into her life, with his bar and his sleeve of tattoos and for once in her life someone actually gets her…until obstacles like her parents and his ex throws up road block.
I think this book is one of the best contemporary romances that I have read this year. I have never read a Harper Kincaid book before, but I am now planning to read everything she has published. It is very refreshing not to read such a fast pace book. But one that makes your heart slow and enjoy every word.
The writing was smooth and the story delicious, I found no plot holes and the story was neatly tied up with a big bow by the end. I also really love the cover; it really gave me a clear image of who really was in the book.
I give Rule Breaker 10 out of 10 and I send Harper Kincaid a huge virtual hug! Thank you for such an amazing book
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The story starts off rather sad for our female protagonist, Lauren Renwick who was dumped on New Year’s Eve by her bland boyfriend who decided to get back with his ex-wife. Curse him. An artist, and a true free-spirit, Lauren decides not to let this ruin her New Year’s Eve plan. She decides to go to a place that she typically would never venture into — a biker bar. Yes, dressed in Jimmy Choo’s and a girly dress, Lauren perches her cute little self on a bar stool and requests a Moscow Mule. Of course the bartender thinks that is a “girly” drink but is disavowed of that notion when Lauren tells him what the drink is made of. Lauren actually charms him in her own unique way and she is actually content to sit there as she ponders her love life. Lauren knew that her — now — ex was not the great love of her life but she was feeling pressure from the Southern Belle Mafia (which had me LOL, by the way) to stop wasting her life and settle down with a respectable man who would give her babies. Her mother even gave her a list of rules for dating that would lead her from dating into marriage. Now, I’m going to take a brief pause to say the rules weren’t that funny…but Lauren breaking EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. was hilarious. Anywhoot, moving on.Read more ›

The only “Rule” I believe that has been broken is that Harper Kincaid didn’t make this one longer and the story didn’t have a dual POV ( I have a small obsession with these). Read morePublished 12 months ago by Shawna Shauntia
