Top Customer Reviews
The crisis in this book was childish and obtuse, really, really dumb in my humble opinion. Not worth the money. There are much better authors who reasonable price their books that write with elegant prose and maturity.
Don't recommend the book.
I liked Flynn. He was reliable, sexy, funny, and really laid back. Not having an ego didn't hurt either! Amelia was sassy and intelligent, and even when she took things extremely serious she still kept her sense of humor. She also didn't hesitate to apologize if she was wrong about something. I liked their chemistry too. It was more of a slow, steady burn rather than a quick flash fire and gave their relationship a 50/50 feel of heat and comfort.
The Cassidy clan, and Amelia's friend Laura, livened things up when the story dragged in a few areas, providing some really entertaining conversations. My only complaint, I felt the ending was rushed with a few moments of silly drama between Flynn and Amelia that could have easily been avoided if Flynn had simply talked to her.
Perfect for a lazy afternoon read, RULES OF CONTACT is a straightforward, contemporary romance with minimal angst and lots of sexy moments between two people struggling to find someone to accept them for themselves. 12th in the Play by Play series, I had no trouble jumping in without reading previous books.
I received a copy of this book courtesy of Berkley and RT Book Reviews.
You get the idea that I had very high expectations for this book?
It pains me to say this, but my expectations might have been too high. I expected to LOVE Rules of Contact as I have done so many of the Play by Play novels, but unfortunately, I just didn't. I did not dislike it, because there is nothing specific to dislike. It has Ms. Burton's smoking hot love scenes and a beautiful love story, but the story was lukewarm. It moved pretty slowly and felt a little boring. (Honestly, this is tough to say when I am such a fan of Ms. Burton.)
Flynn and Amelia did not have a lot of chemistry. I did not feel anything between them until all of the sudden they were having sex. As I mentioned, those sex scenes are Kindle-fogging, but the attraction between Amelia and Flynn wasn't present before they got together. There were in a boss/employee situation and had known each other for quite awhile, but neither had even noticed each other beforehand.
Rules of Contact is not bad by any means, and I would recommend it for the bedroom scenes alone. I might have set myself up for disappointment or this is just an anomaly in an otherwise stellar body of work from Jaci Burton.
ARC provided by publisher via Netgalley, but no one made me write this review and my opinions are honest and my own.
This is a great mix of intense attraction, friendship, family, food, sports, and romance.
It is an entertaining story that combines a hunky, muscular, tattooed football player, (need I say more, just look at that cover) with an independent, strong, attractive chef, in a plot filled with smoking chemistry, sporty tidbits, delicious food, and sizzling passion.
If you like sporty contemporary romance with a little spice I can’t think anyone else who writes a consistently fun, engaging novel like Jaci Burton. Indulge this holiday season. You won’t be disappointed!
To meet another Amazing couple and in Rules of Contact we get Flynn Cassidy & Amelia Lawrence.
Flynn Cassidy Professional Football Player and Restaurant Owner can't seem to find that right woman or at least a woman who doesn't want more of the spotlight than him. But sometimes what is right in front of you is something you need to look closer at and that person is Amelia Lawrence.
Amelia Lawrence a woman who is looking to start over finds herself as Head Chef of Ninety Two and sees maybe her life looking up once again.
The chemistry we see between Flynn and Amelia is totally off the charts but their is some hesitancy on each of there part because of both of their past experiences. What your hoping is that they can see past their pasts and move forward as a couple because they both deserve to have that HEA.
