What can be said about a Despot's view of the world and a prescription for disaster for any country that adopts these rules and attitudes.
The book is valuable as a lesson in what to avoid and how to formulate a plan to defeat these very twisted individuals that believe in this tripe, which is my reason for purchasing it! One should know one's enemies well.

I Was Hoping To Learn More

There has been a lot of talk in the last several years about Hillary and Barrack being disciples of Saul Alinsky which is why I read this book. I wanted to see the evidence of these two carrying out Alinsky's plans. I must admit you can see many of their tactics buried in the pages of this book. One statement in the book stood out after watching Obama's tactics in recent negotiations about the sequestor and the budget: "... a world where "reconciliation" means that when one side gets the power and the other side gets reconciled to it, then we have reconciliation..."

Overall, I thought Alinsky's tactics came across as simple extortion but they seem to work.

Is this the Rush Limbaugh Strategy and Tactics Guide or what?

I read this book cause I heard Rush Limbaugh refer to it so much. I was surprised to find that even though this book is usually thought to represent tactics used by elements of the "left", it illustrates the actions of the right more obviously now. It would be hard to believe that as much as Rush talks about this book and Alinsksy that he hasn't read the book and now seems to do his very best to use Alinsky's ideas and tactics. Reading this book is like reading the Rush Limbaugh strategy and tactics guide. And apparently also large segments of his fellow travelers on the right and left.

The "book" is good, and bad.

It's been years (decades, actually) since I read Alinsky. The material is as timeless as ever, maybe more so in light of recent political developments in this country. Sadly, the physical quality of the book is why I rated 3 stars. It looks like the "publisher" took an old copy of the book and reproduced it on a photo copier. I would definitely recommend the book be read, but this level of quality is pitiful.
