This is a very important work for anyone who's truly interested in "human behavior"and human psychology on many levels, and especially how most people, no matter who they are, can be manipulated. Much of what Alinsky has here has been known for hundreds if not thousands of years, but he organizes his data clearly and makes it very easy to grasp. He was a real "communicator" and probably an outstanding teacher. What he writes is readily recognizable as being implemented with real expertise by U.S. (and E.U.) controlling power groups to an astonishing, and vividly apparent, degree. Vital to know and sadly depressing.

I hardly agree with anything he wrote. I think after having read this book I understand Obama's and Hillery's continual lying. They were/are both disciples of Alinsky. I wish I had had the information in this book early on in Obama's presidency. I'm completely convinced as a result of reading the book of this: "you can't believe anything a progressive liberal says because they will say anything, tell any lie necessary, to get what they want!" They are trained by Alinsky, and I suppose by his disciples 'to not let your convictions deter you from your mission.'

If you want to know why our country is so messed up, this book outlines all and why we are so divided.

Community organizer sounds like such a nice thing, until you find out it's all about lies and division. Stealing from one group, keeping for yourself and giving crumbs to the poor.

Here is the game plan for all the dysfunction we are experiencing! Actual lies and misquotes through out the book. Those familiar with the bible will spot the lies immediately, but nice try Saul.

A Tough Read for a Conservative Radical ... But Important and Useful

Purchased in an effort to understand my opponents, I was surprised by it. I guess it really depends on what your definition of a "Radical" is.

Obviously designed to further a Socialistic / Communistic thought process and a system to help this come to pass, the truth is that this book could as easily be used by people of a Conservative mindset as well.

I have found over time that I can learn as much by listening to people I disagree with as well, and sometimes even better, than to people I like and agree with. After all, if all the people involved in a conversation agree with each other, all you are really doing is standing in an echo chamber and few new ideas find their way in. While some of the ideas put forward in this book are not entirely new, they are presented in a manner that makes them somehow more accessible and coherent.

From a conservative point of view, I have to admit that I had more than a little difficulty dealing with the tone and thrust of the writing in general and yet, everything in the book could as easily be applied to whatever Social or Political form of "Radicalism" you ascribe to.

I give this book only 4 stars because of the amount of time it spent seriously getting under my skin as I compared its writings to the creeping destruction of the Social and Political Situation in the USA since the mid 1960's. It is easy to see where many of the ideas used to get us here have come from.

Some of what Alinsky says in this book is absolutely horrid. The guy's set of morals is atrocious, and can be summed up as 'The Have-Nots should take from the Haves'. Regardless of this, this book is incredibly important. It provides an insight into the mindset of the bottom left corner of the political spectrum. To understand politics and the far left today, read this.
