Modern moms are overworked and under-appreciated and "42 Rules for Working Moms" is a fresh, funny, and inspiring call to action to working women from working women that says, "it's okay to work and be a mom." The truth (which seems to be ignored in society's current views of working motherhood) is that there was never a time in history when the average woman was able to give birth, and then have the luxury of doing nothing else until her child reached adulthood. In my opinion, (unless you're a celebrity or royalty who relies on others to "manage your children") very mom is a working mom and this book is filled with useful, practical advice on how to survive and succeed as a modern working mom.

This book has made me laugh AND cry. Feeling like I am in "the trenches" with 2 very young kids and a full time job, I need the inspirational advice from these funny and smart moms on a daily basis. Each night I read a different "rule" (some for the 3rd and 4th time) and feel so much better about managing it all. It's the perfect way to end a hectic day.

This books is very overpriced for the information. Just talk to your friends and family who have kids, are new time mommmas, or who are pregnant to get the advice located in this book. The book is shy of 100 pages and not worth the price I paid for it. It will go on the shelf with all the other horrible 'advice' books I have purchased from pregnancy to going back to work after having a baby. I'm starting to think that I should write a book :) I would pass over this book if looking for a good deal and real advice. Being a new mom and not having much time to read, this book offers 42 short stories/advice from mothers across the united states. The moms are typically employed in high powered jobs and successful with their careers. Many seem that they have the money to utilize many of the resources that would be so nice. However, being a single income earner, it is impossible to use alot of the advice within the book due to lack of access to resources that require lots of money. I don't know if it's really a true representation of the 'working mother'.
