Jen's book is full of valuable information, and she writes in a concise and conversational style that makes her book easy to read and her instructions easy to follow. I'll continue to follow Jen through her journey as an Ironman, because there is always something new to learn from her; she never stops learning and making herself a stronger athlete. The biggest lesson I've learned from Jen is that training for a marathon or a triathlon is more than a hobby, it's a lifestyle. Whether you've always wanted register for a triathlon but don't know where to start or you're a seasoned athlete, there is something for you in this book. A lot of people don't know how much strength training improves your performance. You won't be disappointed!
Anyone looking to get strong and up their game in triathlon would be hard pressed to find a better written, more informative book. You'll find lots of good science, plenty of pictures and links to video demonstrations! She gives plenty of alternatives for when you don't have access to a gym, too.
When I first started competing, I really struggled to figure out when to fit in strength training, but also what moves should I be doing, given all three disciplines. Jen Rulon's book answers both of those questions and more. From why to when to what and, yes, even how, Jen Rulon answers all of those questions in an easily understandable, easily readable way. This is the most complete book I've seen on the subject, without overcomplicating the matter.
Strength training is so incredibly important if you want to go faster and push farther. This book will get you to your goals.
