Here are a couple of fun facts about me. I like zombies and I like romance. And maybe I’m just not looking in the right place, because I don’t often come across a combination of these two things. In fact, I’ve only come across one other series, a series by Sarah Lyons Fleming, which I absolutely loved. So when I heard about RUN, book 1 in a new zombie romance series, there was no way I was going to pass it up.

Alexis meets Blake after narrowly escaping her office building at the height of the zombie attack, an attack that was kept quiet by the government. Both are very attracted to each other and quickly join up as partners rather than going it alone. While they try to make it back to their houses for weapons and supplies, what starts out as “We might die tomorrow so lets bang as much as we can” quickly turns into “Make me forget what we just saw and did”. When they reach safety, it simply becomes “We like each other, so let’s keep doing this”. RUN is a novella that is filled with a lot of sex. A LOT of sex. Alexis and Blake can hardly keep their hands off each other, even having sex in situations where I would be running and making sure I was in a safe and secure place. And the sex gets quite kinky, which to be honest, I didn’t think the story needed.

I expected a serious, possibly scary and disturbing novel involving a romantic element, so I was pleasantly surprised when it started out with a fair bit of dry humour while dealing with the zombie apocalypse. But that humour quickly fades when the full impact of the zombies is witnessed, and then the story turns out to be one I expected.

So Alexis is caught out in the city unprepared for the end of the world. As a prepper you would think she would have it together but not this time. Alexis figured she needed to get to her house and survive but fate has a way of sending you in another direction. I loved that she was a kicka$$ character and no shrinking violet.

I am a huge fan of the zombie genre in tv, movies, and especially books. This kinda caught my eye and was good enough that I couldn't put it down and read through it straight through in one sitting... love the author and how they brought the boom to life.... hated the ending except for the fact that it left it open for sequels....

Gillian Zane kicked off the Nola Zombie series with a winner. Graphic violence, sex, gore and zombies galore; but, each in a perfect balance to keep the story interesting and the reader engaged. What more can you ask for? Well, she delivers more, in clear prose, with excellent grammar, word usage, and expansive vocabulary. The plot is more or less linear, as a first person narrative often is, but the direction she takes the reader in gives a much broader view of the zombie apocalypse. Set in New Orleans, a place I'm only minimally familiar with, Zane gives the reader a real sense of being right there besides our fortuitous heroine and her new beau. Courtesy of Zane's vivid scene descriptions and intricate plot development. I will continue reading this series with great anticipation and ample curiosity for the fate of super sexy Alexis.

I'm so happy with this book. Yes, it ends in a cliffhanger, but sooo worth it. The h is prepared for an apocalypse just not the zombie kind. She is at work when "flu" arrives in NO. She almost made it home when h meets H. He is so hot that I had to fan myself while reading description about Blake. Luckily, he is a part of a team of ex-military and has an island. The sex is hot and did I say hot....OMG!

A bit tongue and cheek but very enjoyable. Run and then have sex; escape and then have sex; safe house and then have sex: now you get the rhythm of the book. The two main characters quickly bond under stressful conditions and the author captures you inside their world seamlessly. You don't want to put the book down.

All-in-all the story and characters click, the action is well done and the story line develops in a steady and quick fashion. This is a short story so its over before you know it. There is a bit of a cliff hanger at the end that leaves you wanting the next novel. Too bad book two isn't available to Unlimited readers.

Author: I liked the cover art.

Gifted copy for honest review.

I really enjoyed reading Run (NOLA Zombie #1). This story is about Blake and Alexis. The characters and story are great. Alexis is trying to escape from her office downtown and make it home where she has began her prepping since the hurricane. While trying to get home she meets Blake and together they make it to her home to get here supplies and her dog Charlie. Then they go to his place to get weapons and ammo. While there they meet up with some of Blake staff form the security firm he own. These two are really into each other and get hot and heavy right from the start. I have to say that in the end when Blake decides to leave and help his ex I thought he was being a total jerk.

I'm a little torn....I love the whole zombie story aspect on one hand...and normally I love a little bit of erotica with a good action story line. However, that being said...enough is enough! Really, I find myself bypassing pages just to get back to the great storyline! Sex would be great but this feels more like porn thrown in for the sake of porn! I like the story so much though that I will probably finish the series while continuing to skip through what seem to be obligatory sex sessions. Not love, or else the author has definite different idea of what love and gratifying sex are. I guess it just kind of bums me because it could have be an amazing Zombie/Romance but alas....
