Top Customer Reviews
If you've read the first books in the series then you have a general idea of whatay happen but you will be blown away by all the twists and turns within this book. I highly recommend this to everyone who has read the first two books and will be recommending the whole series to anyone and everyone that I meet.
Although this installment is intended to be a standalone, focusing on a new couple, I highly recommend reading the series from the beginning as there are subplots and references I think you would most enjoy watching unfold. However, having said this, the couple in this tale do have a little introduction in a short story of their own, Blackmail Boy, which I did not find necessary to read. And if I'm honest, I actually missed it.
Stoney, an aging rock star at thirty, has fallen in love with Carlin, a younger musician. Their relationship is still in the honeymoon phase when they find out that Stoney may have a teenage son. How will this impact their easy partnership? Is Carlin even prepared to be a step-dad? For that matter is Stoney even prepared to be a father?
Just becoming accustomed to being a couple out in the open the arrival of Stoney’s son puts a strain on their relationship and they must learn to overcome their struggles in order for their union to survive.
I felt all of Stoney and Carlin’s ups and downs and the complexity of adding a child to a coupling that is just getting started.
Being able to relate to their emotions made for a story I could not put down until I absolutely knew what happened, even when there was much needed housework to do.
Once again, with The Runaway Father, Parker Avrile has made me feel for and with the characters. Avrile has a writing style that immerses readers in the tale and makes you believe you know the individuals intimately.
Parker has easily become one of my go to authors!
