Sara's writing hits all of the right notes and somehow running as a goal unto itself, and not necessarily because it will make me thinner (although that's a nice little side effect) is significantly more inspiring than the hundreds of articles I have read that ordered me to hit the pavement and "torch some calories."
To revel in the freedom, gain a new and more empowered feeling about my body, feel accomplished, and even enter a quiet place where the pounding of my feet on the pavement becomes the soundtrack for creativity - these are all the kind of reasons that _I_ need to get off the couch and hit the street. It's still hard, but somehow the perspective Sara provides makes it seem more worth it.
It reminds me of when I was a kid and loved to run. It is full of that child-like wonder at the simple pleasure of running, and reawakens my joy.
I love the blank journal pages that have little track-shoe watermarks on them, making the blank page visually encouraging to add my own words and make the book my own.
As a writer, herbalist, and long-time meditation practitioner who has done many programs and read many inspirational books, I can honestly say that this one is among my favorites.
