"There aren't words to describe this second book. Although I believe that both books were written at the same time, the second book is on a higher level than the last book. With new characters and one of the best inclusions of the Honoring of the Dead in a description of Samhain that I have ever read. Real enough to not be "fluffy-bunny" but not to hard for children to cope with or to understand."  ~ PaganDad Patrick McCleary

"Kids will enjoy the stories, although you will probably only read one at a time to very young children, and they will grow into some of the deeper nuances. Adults will enjoy them too, although they may find some of the rhymes tumbling through their head long after they story was read. Heck, I'd give these books to someone interested in knowing more about pagan rituals, but daunted by reading books with 'witch' in the title.  Highly recommended."  ~ Lisa Mc Sherry, Facing North

I brought this for my girls (2 & 6) hoping that it would give them a better idea of the holidays and where the traditions came from. Although some of the stories had details, they only made up a small amount of the story. I was disappointed and left with many unanswered questions and only a vague explanation of the holidays. My two year old liked the pictures and the rabbit narrator (can't expect more than that based on her age). My 6 year old found the back and forth between the characters distracting and couldn't follow the story or understand why I was reading it until I got to the point of each story (where she recognized the traditions). Basically, it is ok if you want a very general overview and don't want to get too involved with the holidays. I'm still looking for a good book for my kids though, this doesn't cut it.

When my first child was born I looked for something just like this to teach her about our faith, but had no luck. I stumbled across this book right after my second daughter was born and am so very happy to have such a beautiful resource.

The second part of this series on the Wiccan holidays is just as wonderful as the first Rupert's Tales continues with stories on the other four major Wiccan holidays. This is a great read for both adults and children!

I love this book. I originally bought it for my toddler to introduce her to the wheel of the year, but have enjoyed reading it for myself just as much! She loves Rupert and we were lucky enough to meet Kyrja. Rupert's Tales really make it easy to teach children what the wheel of the year is all about!

Rupert the rabbit hops through the God season of the Pagan year learning real life lessons along with the significance of each Sabbat. I found this was, as my title suggests, a gentle and loving means of introducing children to the Wheel of the year. Each volume of Rupert’s Tales is divided into four parts; Samhain, Yule, Imbolc and Ostara, one for each Sabbat of the God season of the Pagan year, and then Beltane, Litha, Lammas, Mabon one for each Sabbat of the Goddess season. Depending on the age of your readers, this book can be approached as a whole, or as four “mini books.”

Each "tale" is written in rhyming verse by Kyrja and accompanied by charming pastel illustrations by artist Tonia Bennington Osborn. The text has a song-lilke quality (Kyrja provides supplemental material via her author website that is well worth exploring) and addresses the basic concepts of each sabbat that can be read over and over--for teaching purposes, or to pull out at the appropriate season to remember "why we do what we do."

I thought the author handled dealing with death--a sensitive topic for both children and adults very well. When I finished reading Rupert's Samhain tale, I felt a sense of comfort--and I really liked the that the author didn't take the approach that there is only one right answer when it comes to these great mysteries of life. Throughout the book they are addressed with sensitivity and respect. I also thought the organization of the book(s) was well done. This piece of the series in particular, starts with Samhain (the season of death) and ends with Ostara (the season of life and hope).

I bought this as a Yule gift for my almost 3 yr old granddaughters. Their father is Wiccan so we try and find ways every year to incorporate his beliefs into the family's Christmas traditions. My granddaughters love this book, and I'm now looking into buying other books about pagan traditions by this author.

This book fills a need for Pagan parents. It is good for early elementary age, perhaps grade 2-5. My younger kids had trouble following the stories a bit and would have liked more pictures. Still, it is a good intro to the Wheel of the Year for kids.

I love the simplicity of it and my kids understand the words. We ordered both books and the activity book at once. The artwork is just beautiful and I'm so happy to find a book for children that is focusing on Pagan beliefs. :)
