Editorial Reviews

At approximately 14, Ruslan discovered jazz, instantly showing imminent interest. By the age of 16, he was the "wunderkind" keyboardist for the then-popular Israeli jazz fusion band, "Confusion". With Confusion, he toured Israel and made several appearances at the Red Sea Jazz Festival. At 18, Ruslan auditioned for the Berklee College of Music, where he received full tuition scholarship, and moved to Boston in January 2000. During his studies at Berklee, Ruslan displayed growing interest in R&B, funk and soul music, playing with local artists and eventually becoming the resident keyboardist in a club called "Wally's Jazz Cafe" Ruslan joined the Stanley Clarke band and moved to Los Angeles, thus marking the beginning of his professional caree which includes a Grammy Award.. Since then, Ruslan has been touring, performing and recording with major artists (in addition to Clarke), such as Seal, Josh Groban, Ne-Yo, Chick Corea, Eric Benwa, Marcus Miller, Dennis Chambers, Rachelle Ferrell, Diane Warren and countless others.

This is a wonderful CD. Ruslan is magic on the keyboards. A true star on the rise. Sister Moon is the single and is lovely. My favorite on this CD is the Lively How Near How Far.

This is an absolute must to listen to. Jaw-dropping. Soul-opening. I immediately fell in love with "How near, how far". I knew Ruslan was a great pianist, what I didn't know that he was an amazing singer too. Love every note of his music, love each sound of his voice. When listening to his music, plenty of images are popping up in my head. How come Hollywood hasn't picked him up for making music to a great movie yet? Ruslan is more addictive than sugar. I cannot wait seeing him on a worldwide tour and attending his concerts in Europe. THE Artist....

"Ruslan" took me on a smooth and passionate journey, where in some moments I wasn't sure if emotions like desire or sadness I felt where Ruslan Sirota's or my own.
The 14 songs of the album, 13 own compositions and the Sting cover "Sister Moon" have colours of different genres and I realized again that musical creativity due to its nature reflects the artist and not a genre and can't be categorized. The beauty of the songs lies in R. Sirota's ability to pass emotions, impressions and stories over to the listener, with a very expressive composition- and very expressive and fluid playing mode, which leaves me just with an idea of what he has inside himself.
I don't have a favourite song on the album, I love all his babies, I loved the opener "How Near How Far" at once as well as R. Sirota's voice, that is very special and soulful, has its own timbre and which I will always recognize among all others. Maybe I also love especially "Feather Park" with its moving piano, "In Truth" with Chick Corea, that seems to tell a touching story and the big-emotional "From A Whim To Pursuit". Close your eyes and listen.

WOW - What a Jazz mix from Ruslan Sirota. This is one hell of a talented musician and composer. I love the vocals to How Near How Far and the soul searching Like The Wind. Forgiveness while instrumental takes me on a journey to a peaceful place. If you like soul jazz, you will love Hubert, very rhythmic and seductive. I LOVE the sensual feeling of Sister Moon..real smooth!!
His CD ends with From A Whim To A Pursuit - like a kiss goodnight! There is not one track that I don't like. Ruslan is extremely gifted and talented and he opens his heart to you in his music.. I HIGHLY recommend this new jazz mix/fusion; you will not be disappointed!!

Can't get enough of this album. Ruslan was born to play the piano. His writing, arrangements and haunting vocals, along with great accompanying musicians, are fabulous to listen to over and over. George Duke, Stanley Clarke and especially Chick Corea who duets with Ruslan on the awesome "In Truth" are icing on the cake. Glad I own it.

I was never a jazz fan until I listened to Ruslan Sirota's CD, "Ruslan." I liked it immediately. With every subsequent playing, I like it even more. It's a musical glimpse into the soul of the artist.
With his excellent composing skills and sensitive playing, Ruslan is as capable of translating his feelings into an emotional experience for the listener as a good Haiku poem does to its reader, not an easy task. An prime example is, "Waking Up Alone." This piece could bring the listener to tears.
Ruslan has featured Chick Corea, Stanley Clark, George Duke, and Trevor Wesley on this CD.
I highly recommend this CD on all levels.
