Update: These have now been to summer camp, weekend trips where all clothes needed to stuff in a small backpack, and on a long haul 3 week road trip across the country. They have held up wonderfully! Just as good as the more expensive brand!
I literally packed a weeks worth of clothes including 3 pairs of shoes (I know, I know) into a small Jansport backpack with space for souveniers and I know I would not have been able to do it without these cubes! My boyfriend who is usually the light packer was soo impressed that he bought these when we returned.
First of all, these are great value for all the pieces you receive. They can be easily stored all in one of the cubes and folded away when not in use. The "non structure" of the cube allows them to be squished into tight spaces even AFTER they are filled, basically you squeeze all the air out when you push them into your luggage.
Update: 1 Aug 16: The more I use these, the more I like them: They have many many uses outside of packing for trips: For example: I sometimes want to go out during bad weather or at night when it's clear and take pictures. The weather is fickle; you always need "extra stuff" when you do this; it's not a spontaneous thing: on a given outing I will take (in addition to the camera): 1) flashlight 2) Window tripod mount 3) compass 4) cell phone 5) laser pointer 6) shutter release cable or Lightning Bug system to capture lightning or fireworks; 7) bug spray 8) batteries, chargers 9) camera rain protector, 10) full tripod 11) tracking devices (vixen polarie skytracker, etc). In addition to safety tools: bear spray, firearm, walkie-talkie, rain gear, water.....
I keep all of these (not the full tripod of course) in a little packing cube; and I'm ready for action.
I plan on using one of these to hold my attachments for my cordless vacuum, since these can be washed easily.
In packing for an upcoming trip, I am thrilled (and relieved) that all my things are packed "together" I have three in my rolling bag and three in the check luggage.
Using them--I am not "organized", and this is helping me a lot. I put things in "logical places" and, (you guessed it), I lose them (I'm told it runs in my family, but that doesn't make me feel any better). This frustrates me and wastes my time. Now, that I have these -- I feel better (maybe I won't lose and misplace things. Maybe I won't have to check and recheck as if I'm OCD).
They fold very flat, and you get 2 ea of 3 sizes. I've filled 4 of them up already in anticipation of an upcoming road trip. They have handles -- I like this! Like little mesh cases with handles.
I think they have a lot of uses. I think I can use these in my pantry as well! You can pack picnic items in them.
One thing I really like for travel (and I'm going to employ it): The zipper pulls have an opening that is large enough for a small lock OR a zip tie. A little extra security for my many camera "tools" (small tripods, chargers, batteries, etc).
I might get even more-- they are really this useful.
