They are so definitely Ruthless People

My first reading of this author and certainly not my last, I have already purchased book two of this series. I really enjoy a good crime family novel and the name of this book was well chosen. This is the story of the combining of two of the top crime families which are the Giovanni family (Italians) and the Irish family of the Callahans, the decision made by their fathers over a decade ago. Melody Giovanni has been set up to marry Liam Callahan and their initial meeting was definitely explosive the first time they are together. Melody is anything but the typical stepford wife that is the norm for the Irish men. The secret that she and her father have been hiding about her role in the family business and her abilities astounds Liam and his men upon first meeting her. As well Melody definitely makes quite the grand entrance into their lives. Liam is to set to step up into his father's position as head of the family upon their marriage even though he is second in line because he is the most capable for the role. Melody and Liam definitely are made for each other as they are both the most blood thirsty individuals of both their organizations and totally enjoy murder mayhem and blood lust, additionally their lust for each other is off the charts. So much happens in this book that you will have a really hard time putting it down, murder, bombing, rape, drugs, betrayal, torture is done at a new gruesome level and things from the past come back to bite everyone. Totally recommend this book and I cannot wait to read book two in this series to find out what happens next as it leaves off in a huge cliffhanger that is a total shock. Great job Ms. McAvoy!!!

Five stars easily. I read this book in one go ..I could not out it down. 1 am and I was still reading. First this is not a book for the queasy, overly religious or young. It's filled with descriptive sex, so much cursing even I skipped over f bombs and extremely detailed violence. I mean want to know what it's like to rip a man in half? Just read ... However...it was so good. Multiple POVs but it wasn't too much and I adored the unquestionable loyalty of a mob family. This book actually had complicated, slap you in one breath and love you in the next, romance. An actual love story that began as an arranged marriage between two rival mob families.
I highly recommend the book. Not for those with delicate sensibilities but for those that like grit with their romance. The story concludes but doesn't end so I will move on to book two.

When Children of the Vice caught my attention, I wanted to read this series first.

OMG - I can't believe I have waited so long to read this series! Thank goodness I have all the books ready to devour.

My Review:
Wow, a story of power and passion ruthlessly played out!

The first book in the Ruthless People series takes us through the arranged marriage between two headstrong leaders. Neither was willing to relinquish control which set the stage for a battle of some magnitude, fueling the feisty fight and a fantastic beginning to a suspenseful series.

Melody’s biggest weapon was the way she was easily dismissed. It was assumed her gender would dictate her as a vulnerable, easily controlled person. She was determined to make this marriage work in her favour. Refusing to take anything less than an equal role in the running of the family business, she showed no hesitation in demanding respect and consequently was feared by those who dared stand up to her. Liam Callahan was the exception. He quickly discovered a marriage to Melody would be built on a thorny bed of roses.

If there was ever a man who could take on Melody it was Liam. They fought toe to toe with weapons drawn and each time they got close the chemistry between them was ignited by their refusal to back down. Just as one of the betrothed would get the upper hand, the other would flip the situation around. It was a miracle they both escaped the only exit to a marriage acceptable to both parties. Til death do us part was yet to be uttered between Melody and Liam but it was obvious they were both willing to take each disagreement with whatever brutal force deemed necessary to get their point across.

I loved how both characters were equally matched in strategy and strength. Each challenge they faced was solved mercilessly and in a matter of fact manner, devoid of emotion. Surprisingly, their business tactics were starkly contrasted against a growing respect and personal connection they were finding harder and harder to deny.

An aptly titled book, Ruthless People held my attention from beginning to end. The storyline is intense, fast moving and captivating. I am delighted I have the entire series on my Kindle ready to devour because I have a feeling this series will become an addiction I will want to feed.
