Ryan lost his wife suddenly three years prior due to a complication after surgery. He's been just existing for his daughter since.
Amber moved into town after buying her grandma's bakery.
She needed a fresh start after leaving her cheating ex behind.
They are instantly attracted to each other. They begin dating but it's not uncomplicated because Ryan and his daughter haven't fully healed from their loss.
Things seem to be a HEA at the end, that is until someone she never wanted to see waltzes through her bakery's door.
The second hardest thing would be watching my twelve-year-old daughter fall to her knees as they lowered her mother into the ground to rest.
A heart-wrenching vision that will forever be etched in my mind.
Claire was my best friend—she had been since we were barely old enough to talk. I always knew, one day, I would marry her. I think I may have even told her that a few times while we were growing up.
Never did I think I would lose her so suddenly.
I knew at that moment…
Our life would never be the same again…
This book opens with a tragedy. Then you jump to three years later. Ryan doesn’t want to date or anything like that. He has a great support system in his family.
Amber inherits a bakery from her grandmother, and her friend Bailey moves with her to help run it.
When these two meet it is Ryan’s second chance at love. My heart broke for Olivia. She just missed her mom. I laughed out loud at times, and my eyes watered at times. I watched Olivia grow after being a bit of a brat. She just didn’t want to forget her mom. The supporting players were great as well. The flirty Noah Sawyer and the player Jackson Sawyer. Bailey was a great friend to Amber and was there when she needed her. I am excited to read the rest of this series.
Amber has come to town wanting a change after she caught her fiance cheating on her. Her best friend, Bailey, moves with her. Amber really likes Ryan and there's a chance they could have a relationship but Olivia is giving Ryan all kinds of grief over it. She decides to step back and give them the time to heal.
The only complaint I had was a couple of scenes that didn't really flow with the story. Other than that it was an enjoyable read.
