Ryder's world was torn apart by those he loved. Now he keeps to himself and likes it that way.
Kaden, a mechanic gives him a hand. I want to know more about him as well.
Ryann, the feisty bartender gets under Ryder's skin, but is it enough to make him stay, or will he run when it gets too deep?

Wow, this book was absolutely amazing! I'm not a huge fan of novellas, which is the only reason why it didn't get a full 5 stars from me.
This book sucked me in from the get go, I was dying to know what had happened to Ryder to cause him to be this loner he portrays himself as. And Ryann, wow, she's a no bulls*** kind of girl. I love how she was sweet and caring yet didn't didn't take s*** from Ryder.
Ryder is a loner, who travels from place to place, stopping only for short periods of time. He keeps everyone at a distance after an ultimate betrayal in his past left him bitter towards trusting people. But when his bike breaks down, he ends up in a small town waiting on parts before he can continue on his never-ending road trip.
Ryann is a pretty self sufficient business owner, but when local trouble comes to her bar, Ryder steps in to help. When he's injured trying to help, Ryann insists on taking care of him.
Both are strong willed, independent & resilient people, but together they both start letting their high structured walls down.
This novella was just enough to get you completely obsessed with these characters and the storyline, I am impatiently awaiting for more!
I was aware when starting this book, that this was a novella. However, I did not feel like I was reading a novella, somehow this story had all aspects covered, a couple, angst, love, a haunted past, and a secondary character I am interested in knowing more about. There is more to this story for Ryder and Ryann and I can’t help it, I need this next book like I need my next breath.
From the beginning of this story, I knew I couldn’t put this down. Ryder is the so-called bad boy, pushing his broken down motorcycle on a hot day, a tattoo artist, with a broken spirit. Plagued by nightmares from his past, I was heartbroken for him; those who should have been there for him were vicious. I need to know more, I want every detail, and I want to know will he ever find peace. He is tough, rugged, a little rough around the edges, sure. But like Ryann I agree with her, I feel like his bad boy image is just a mask, his conscience and the way he, on occasion defends others shows you that he is truly a good person.
Ryann is a bartender and owner of the bar Ryann’s, by name she is use to people thinking that a man runs the place, by looks the girl is on fire! She has a sassy mouth and is quick with her lines when she meets Ryder at the bar. Ryder helps Ryann with a scuffle in the bar, and Ryann helps him with his wounds. Before you know it I realized, I haven’t put the book down. I felt that this was a well-written story. Somehow I was reading this book quickly, but I didn’t feel that the emotions were going to fast. I felt that the author did a great job at creating a build up to feelings.Read more ›
Ryder is told in the male POV, and we get to know the mystery that is Ryder. He is a loner and never sticks around in one place for very long, but when things go wrong, and he has to stay in a small town for a few days, he tries to make the best of it. There he meets Ryann and her brother, and after some bad things he's now under Ryann's care until he can get back on his feet.
While Ryder was dealing with the fall out of doing something he usually never does, we see a peek into what it is that he's really running from. I am definitely intrigued and definitely want more of Ryder's story after reading this quick novella.
Rebecca Brooke has a way of writing a story that will draw you in and leave you wanting more, because you are just not willing to let go of her characters. Ryder is a true testament to this, and I will be patiently waiting for more of Ryann and Ryder's story!
