This is NOT what it is. While yes it can put some screws in wood and what not, I feel this unit is built as a HIGH TECH / HIGH POWERED ELECTRIC SCREWDRIVER!
This is what I purchased it for. I am a field engineer and do a LOT of work on devices which may have 30 screws on the back cover, like 60 inch tvs.
In this capacity it does an OUTSTANDING job.
I did NOT buy this on Amazon, but at Home Depot. It was 39.00 there (Sorry Amazon!)
I would also note for all, the 1st one I got, the slip clutch did not work at all.
A 10 min drive back to H.D. resolved this issue and the second one worked perfectly.
While I love Amazon, I also must say getting it at H.D. allowed me for 7 dollars to get a 2 year bring it in and we will replace it warranty. That with a 12 dollar extra battery, taxes etc did come up to around 70 dollars, but a well spent amount of money.
I would strongly recommend this IF you need a VERY GOOD Electric Screwdriver, If you need a SCREW GUN Go buy an 18 volt Dewalt or something!
While the Tek4 isn't the most powerful, it comes close do doing the job 80% of the time. It's small enough to fit in tight spaces, yet has a comfortable and ergonomic grip so you're not stripping out screw heads with every turn when you have to use some elbow grease to do the driving.
The device has plenty of torque and sticks with Ryobi's other designs of two settings for speed and an adjustable drag control. The forward reverse is easily switched with the driving hand so you don't have to let go of what you're holding with your other hand. Charging is relatively fast, and you can get plenty of work out of a single charge, but I'd buy an extra battery, JIC.
My only complaint is that in the ads I saw it stated "driver / drill." And effectively, it could be used as a drill; however, the chuck is a hex fitting for all the bits, so obviously you'd need a set of hex head drill bits or some sort of converter, which I've never seen. I haven't thoroughly investigated, but I'm not sure you can replace the chuck on the TEK4 with a drill chuck, but I'll look into it eventually.
Overall, I don't know how I did without this little guy for so long--I wish I would have had it in my toolbox years ago. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Overall good. Occasionally more torque would help but a quick rotation of your hand in addition to the motor usually works. Read morePublished 9 months ago by D. C. Flett
