I had a spot on my roof above a cathedral that would have melting snow each winter. Using the infrared thermometer I could verify which section of the ceiling had some missing insulation. Problem fixed!
I've used this to check the temperature all through my house. It's so easy to point it at the ceiling, A/C ducts, or the back of window blinds, as it captures the temperature on its display for you to read.
I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to figure out the energy efficiency throughout their home. Lower readings on walls and ceilings implies good insulation. And higher temperatures, show you where heat is entering your home.
Consistent readings from the A/C ducts can show you that they're all well insulated. Or if one has a higher readings, then you know to check if for possible air leakage or insulation problems in the attic.
I've had fun with this product measuring the temperature in many places at different times of the day. For example, I was amassed at how hot the inside of an exterior wooden becomes when the sun is shining on the other side of it.
