About S Hollister
Books have always been my passion, soon after learning to read I started writing. I believed I'd be a romance author until I discovered how much I enjoy killing people and blowing things up. I never knew I had such a dark side. I blame it on my husband and six sons.
I am the present Chairperson of the Pamlico Writers’ Group, the oldest writers’ group in eastern North Carolina. I enjoy talking to other authors and sharing my passion for books. I hope to encourage new writers the way others encouraged me.
I am also a member of Romance Writers of America holding the rank of PAN (professional author network). I host the Book in a Week challenge each month with my local RWA chapter, the Heart of Carolina and recently accepted the role as VP of Communications.
I enjoy writing flawed characters who discover their strength and conquer their greatest fears. I am a suspense writer who likes a little romance and a happy ending. My small town romantic suspense series The Leeward Files and The Harrell Family Chronicles are set in a small North Carolina town similar to my own. I populate the town with familiar faces and personalities. I believe in diverse characters, strong heroines and the heroes confident enough to love and support them. No matter how bad life gets, I believe in hope and that love eases the way.

Blog postWeather, how it sets the tone or mood of a story…
“But who wants to be foretold the weather? It is bad enough when it comes, without our having the misery of knowing about it beforehand.” ― Jerome K. Jerome, Three Men in a Boat

Blog postWhat makes a character memorable? What makes them a favorite? Or what makes them a character you love to hate?
As a reader there are several authors who have created memorable characters for me. One character who is also part of an unforgettable couple, is Police Detective Eve Dallas of Nora Robert’s J.D. Robb “In Death” series. She and her husband Roark are very different, yet they are the perfect balance. My hope is to one day create characters as awesome as these. Blog postIt’s January 5th and I just realized I have not yet made my new year’s resolution or set a goal or plan for 2022. I’m not sure if I am prepared for 2022. I’m not sure I ever made it out of 1999,
but that’s a different story. For now I am just trying to plan what I hope to accomplish and what I promise not to do in this new year. Do you make resolutions? Do you keep them? Most of us don’t keep our resolutions after the first week. Why? Because it’s difficult, it’s not fun and too ofte<4 months ago Read more -

Blog postFavorite Holiday Song
Okay, now we’re really getting into difficult territory because I love Christmas music both old and new stuff. I don’t know what it is about Christmas music, but it always touches my heart. I’ve even been known to sing it when it’s not even Christmas.
I have to break this down into categories because I truly love Christmas music

My mom fell and thankfully did not break anything, but she’s still had a rough recovery. At the same time, we lost a beloved friend and extended family member, and then the holidays struck. Oh, and did I mention two of my children were moving at the same time? Yeah, it was chaos but now things are returning to what passes for normal in the Hollister househ5 months ago Read more
