Mariana shows up for a coveted internship to find Scott as her boss. Despite the shock things flow at work; however, there are whispering about her relationship with Scott. Things get testy.
Mariana's roommate Sarah is jealous of her relationship with Scott and creates problems.
The book ends with Mariana about to introduce Scott to her parents. There is a part two.
Hot sex scenes
Scott and Mariana are likable.
The grammar is AWFUL!!!!
The present and past tense is off.
Too many missing words to count.
And I'm not including the author throwing in capitalized words like 'He' and 'His' in the middle of a sentence because she explained that later.
I'm talking about missing words and bad sentence structure!
Suggestions: Get and editor or have someone proof your books. This will be my last read from the author because I can take some grammar mistakes but this one had way to many. It's a shame because the book was interesting and I'm sure the sequel and so on are too, but I can't get past the level of mistakes.
I love this story. As someone who is very well versed in the Lifestyle, I appreciated the attention to detail and the story of Scott and Mariana. There were several situations where the story could have gone into the overly dramatic realm, but Vera Roberts kept it real. The fact that these two were so honest and upfront was really refreshing. So often in these books, there's a lot of secrets and deception that you know will come back to bite the main characters in the ass. I'm just glad Vera didn't get boggled down in all of that drama. Trust is the most important thing in a Dom/sub relationship and that was clear from the get go.
The best friend, Sarah, is a real piece of work. I love the way Scott handled her proposition. And Mariana didn't beat around the bush during the confrontation. Mariana is one of the smarter heroines I've read in a long time.
The love and play scenes in this book were hot and accurate. I was fully engrossed in their relationship. Scott was gentle when he needed to be and deliciously rough when the situation called for it. I really have nothing bad to say about the story telling. I couldn't put the book down until I was finished and I knew I had to go to work the next morning, but it was just that good.
I can't wait for Part 3 and the evil ex's return to the story. I'm patiently waiting for the next jewel from Vera. Good job lady!!
S&M II is where we learn more about the main characters, their background, how they got the way they are, etc. There are even more characters brought into this part. Even more that towards the end we learn who got Scott into BDSM in the first place, but we won't find out anything about her until S&M III comes out. There's also Mariana's roommate Sara (?) who got on my nerves, but probably would have reacted any way a woman might have done if they were that jealous of their friend, roommate, etc sex life, and there's wasn't as good as the other person, and those in denial about a friend doing that, has not met that one "friend."
The book is good from beginning to end and I couldn't put it down. I've read it at least 4 times since purchasing it, just never got around to reviewing it. And I most def can't wait until the next and last part of the series. Don't know what I'm going to do once it actually ends, maybe re-read it again.
I didn't like the way she wrote the story. It didn't flow naturally...it almost seemed forced at times. Kind of like a history book that's just telling you the facts of what happens versus weaving a story.
S&M is deep into bdsm..more so than most books and the author tried to delve into the many different levels and context of what The Lifestyle is all about. The sex part of story left much to be desired for me. I think most people would find these very steamy but her writing "modified 69 position" isn't hot. it's just words. Also, for a man of Scott's age he had quite the stamina on him. very unrealistic but this is fantasy...
S&M II picks up from part I after several months later. Scott as gone awol and Mariana is missing him and upset that he hasnt bothered to call/text or even say hi since she is cleaning his house. Yet she knows he has been there because she does little things to get his attention. The explanation for why he was mia was pure crap and glazed over. They then fall into a sort of relationship yet there are really no feelings. The author failed to convey any form of emotions between the two other than hot (not) sex.
