one is my favorite. It has a mini propeller in the back
facing up so you can do forwards, backwards, up, down, right left
and a joystick controller.its also the cheapest price you will find.
this is the one to buy.
The S018 has been a great deal so far, I bought it for only $15 and have gotten alot of use from it. Just like any Syma product, it has been reliable, and stands up to the quality you'd expect.
As far as function goes, I'll compare this to the gold standard small heli, the S018's brother the s107G. Compared to the S107, the S018 is quite a bit faster, about twice as fast actually. The S018 also has the edge in agility, turning much sharper and quicker than the S107 could ever hope to.
The charge time on this heli is pretty good, only taking 30-40 minutes to reach full by using either the USB cord, or the Syma wall charger (which I highly recommend). I never recommend using the remote's charge cord, as it takes almost twice as long to charge and drains the 6 AA's very quickly, in about 8-10 charges, your remote is almost dead. Flight time is also very good, better than the S107, mainly due to the light weight of the heli (plastic bodied heli's normally are lighter than the metal framed ones, leading to longer flight times even with the exact same motors and battery). I've been getting at least 10-12 minutes flight, closer to 15 minutes on occassion, compared to the 7-9 minute flights of the S107.
So far, with all my favorable comparisons to the S107, you'd think that I'd be telling you to go ahead and buy the S018 right now... Not so, and here's why.
First off, because the S018 is light, fast, and quite agile, it also is very sensitive when it comes to the controls, and requires a very careful touch on the throttle, the joystick, and most of all, the trim adjustment. Speaking of the trim, it doesn't stay adjusted, and you must re-adjust it everytime you turn it on. Over adjusting the trim, even slightly will cause cause the heli to spin wildly. Tiny, incremental adjustments will get it aligned just right.
Also, I have had the tail motor fail once already. Mainly due to the fact that I've flown this heli alot, but no excuses, as I've flown my S107 even more, as well as 2 Viefly V-8's, a S026G, a Viefly V568, 2 Viefly V388's, a HX702, a S110G, and a little "Dragonfly" 2 channel heli, and the S018 has been the only one to have a motor fail. I chaulk it up to a fluke, as the replacement motor is doing just fine.
All in all, I would give this heli 2-4 out of 5 stars. The reason for the range of 2-4 is this: Rate the S018 a 2 if you are a beginning flyer, I do not recommend for you to start out on this heli, as it's too sensitive and will cause you to crash even more often when you are just learning, for you the S107G, or a Viefly V568/268 or V688/689 would much better suit you. The 4 star rating would apply for a flyer who's already familiar with other small heli's and is looking for something a bit faster and a bit more challenging, which the S018 is.
