*NEW 2012* 3.5ch Syma S113G Apache Military Coaxial RC Helicopter w/ GyroPerfect step up from Syma S109G, this copter is a little bigger, about a foot long, but handles just as well, taking into acct it is bigger, not quite as quick, but steadier. Give enough power so lower and upper blades don't hit ea/other. Trim is easy and works. The S109G Syma S109G Apache AH-64 3.5-Channels Mini Indoor Helicopteris the best smaller (9") copter I've tried so far, has a dedicated (USB) charger, the S113G is bigger, has a dedicated wall-plug charger, both preferrable over the "charge from the remote" method, wh/ takes the charge from your battery pack/remote, thus discharging your AA batteries quicker.

I just rec'ed this copter, have flown it once, indoors...it appears the perfect match for indoor/outdoor flying, not too big for one or too small for the other, altho I haven't tried outdoors yet. Must be windless, no ceiling fans or breezy windows...have fun!

PS...I've read about a lot of copters rec'd defective, but I haven't had a prob yet, this is my 8th copter, biggest so far. I like Syma. If you're worried about defectives, just make sure you buy from "Amazon Fulfilled", approved seller, so you can return w/in 30 days no questions asked. I further recommend you make sure the copter has a dedicated charger, not a remote box charger....fly stronger, longer.

PPS...I ordered the Coat Guard version of the 109G, but it has the Remote/battery pack type charger, altho advertised as USB chargable...sent it back, no probs

PPPS....I have researched these copters pretty well to find the best (no weird batteries, proper charging, best review, etc.), and recommend w/ confidence

This really is another good Syma helicopter with the addition of a two-speed tail rotor(button on remote control) for faster/slower movements. This feature could even be considered an indoor/outdoor mode selection. It's a big stable bird too. The throttle is not spring loaded so you can leave it in place and watch your Longbow hover. There is so much power that even a mild ceiling strike doesn't drop it, it just sort of pins itself there and tries to lift the ceiling up. Landings are also smoother and more fluid as opposed to say the S109G which tends to drop into it's landing zone. This one can be controlled enough to make a cleaner "touch down" style of landing.

I too have had the same experience as others have mentioned regarding sudden loss of signal/reception at very close ranges. Apparently this plagues all 27mhz rc systems. Alot of things interfere with that frequency including the helicopters' own motor. I've discovered one small improvement by wrapping the antenna wire in a loop small enough to slip over one of the landing gear. I am also going to try two things mentioned in a forum search regarding 27mhz signal improvements. One person said that they fixed all of their signal problems by replacing the antenna wire with a 4.5' long thin copper wire from a home improvement store and wrapped it back and forth and around itself between the landing gear. If that is the case then it sounds like it's a matter of total surface area. The other improvement said to open the remote and add a similar wire to the antenna base and wrap it all around inside of the case.

Some Syma basics:

For the helicopter to find the remote(aka "bind" to it) turn the remote on first then turn on the helicopter.

Very cool looking. Easy to control. Powerful. BUT - Loses signal and drops like a rock. You'll be flying along fine and for no apparent reason, the motor stops. Sometimes it starts again before it hits the floor ... sometimes not. Your damage will occur accordingly. I played with the antenna, wrapping and draping, lengthening and shortening. Nothing works. Just in my 15 x 18 living room, this things drops to the floor two or three times every flight. First the landing gear broke. I tried gluing them back on but they just broke again. The thing fell on my GF's angel figurine and broke it. It's taken a beating, but mostly due to this poor design. Finally something went with the electronics and now it worthless ... well, even more worthless. Save your money.

After reading a few reviews, and the seller dont helping me with my issue, i decided to post a review too.
It has a really poor signal reception. I had sent emails to the seller, telling them sometimes im barely 3 meters away from the helicopter and i lose range of it. According to specs, it has almost 30mts range, i can barely get 10% of that. Its very well made, and can take some beating, coz mine has dropped down several times because of the same issue, and still has no damage at all, but it really bothers me that i gotta be 2mts close to the helicopter to not lose signal and keep in mind u got a huge antena from your transmiter, so its not funny at all.
I got another Symas, infrared ones, and those got more range indoors than the S113g that is radio controlled (27mhz)

I had taken it outdoors on a calm day, and my range is a little bit higher, but nothing near 30mts or 100 feet (thats what Specs say), can barely take 6mts and its already falling down out of nothing.

For me its not that easy to ask for a refund or change it, because i live in Guatemala and i have to ship it all the way back to the US, so its gonna be more expensive for me to ship it back and get a new one than keeping it. So basically, im stucked with the damn thing, and not happy at all
