Sadlak is one of only a handful of companies making parts and accessories for the M1A to original mil-spec. They improved the design over the original Military issued mount and it makes all the difference in the world.
The only problem I had installing it was not with the mount, but with my rifle. The roll pin that holds the stripper clip in place was very hard to get out. This mount requires you to remove the stripper clip guide to install.
Once installed properly, following the directions, it will NOT move. The scope mount even comes with a small bottle of locktite.
-Packaged well, arrived quickly.
-Comes with detailed USGI-spec schematics with tolerances, torque values, and even troubleshooting feeler pins if required.
-Very solid once mounted. Although its aluminum, it feels very rigid.
-Able to still use iron sights since the center groove is milled very low.
-Installation was a huge headache on my Loaded (Springfield) M1A. I'm not sure if it was my actual receiver not being made to mil spec.
-The rear mating surface where the old stripper clip guide block was installed was very hard to line up with the mount. It took several tries of remounting and pounding on the cam washer to close the gap. If its off by a little bit you'll have to re-adjust it in order to fit in the dovetailed piece.
-I believe the dovetail mounting block side screw holes were slightly off. I had to pre-install the screws into the dovetail and slide it into place before tightening the center screw in the picatinny rail on the mount. There is also no way to correctly torque these screws unless you have a very long and skinny hex bit and adapter set for your torque screwdriver. The holes were just too dang close to the center part of the mount.
