Quikrete uses pea-gravel (instead of angular gravel) in its mixture and an oil base rather than asphalt tar binder. The pea-gravel shifts because pea-gravel is made of round grains of gravel and the oil base makes the pea-gravel stick to your car tires, rather than sticking to your asphalt. Quikrete recommends that you not drive over the patched mixture for at least 24 hours on hot days and longer on cold days or it will stick to your car tires.
There really is no comparison between US Cold Patch and Quikrete. US Cold Patch wins hands down because it makes a solid asphalt patch. Quikrete makes a sandy, oily, gravel patch that won't last.
If you still want to purchase Quikrete and try it out for yourself to compare it to US Cold Patch, I found the best price for Quikrete is at Ace Hardware for a little over $11.00 per 50 pound bag.
You will most likely pay a little more for US Cold Patch, but it is worth it. I have a long driveway on a hill (which gets snow, rain, 100+ degree temps, etc.) and US Cold Patch is the only asphalt patch material that I will use and that will last....and I have tried a lot of different kinds of asphalt road patch....even asphalt caulking. None of them beat U.S. Cold Patch.
We showed the sales rep. the review on the product showing other people had the same problem and all he said was, that the product is still being developed and it does have a problems. They did not offer us our money back because he said the product is only to be used in a hole 2-3" depth and even those did not work.
Look at other reviews and you will see.
Use a product called QPR or Black Jack, they work.
