I bought this camera setup from Sam's Club for my small business. So far I have been pleased with it. The DVR works well. The motion detection works very well, and I love the scheduling of Event vs. Continuous vs. Continous and Event. This allows you to schedule the cameras to record only when there is motion, and if so, for what duration, or, record continuously at whatever time and intervals you specify. You can even assign different schedules for different cameras. So far, I have not had any problems with this aspect. They work perfectly.
Another plus: There is an Audio In port on the back of the DVR, which allows you to record audio. The downside is you have to buy a third party RCA microphone with its power power supply. I have found several on eBay for less than $10 a piece, and this functionality works well.
The iPhone app works well for remote viewing, as well as the web based browser remote viewing. My biggest complaint is with the SmartViewer software, which is the third way to do remote viewing. It is so buggy, only works half the time, and seems to cause all remote viewing capabilities to go on the fritz. It's obvious that Samsung's engineers have focused on the web based and mobile based remote viewing much more, and put SmartViewer on the back burner. My suggestion: forget about it all together. If you use remote viewing through internet explorer, every feature available in SmartViewer is right there, and is much more reliable. You can also use remote viewing via Chrome and Safari, although the search feature is not yet enabled in those browsers. By search, I mean going back and viewing past recordings through the web browser, which can only be done with internet explorer.
