I was not pleased with the simulated surround sound as it made the audio sound tinny. I would stick with either the default audio profile or the 'SMART' audio profile which is also very good and in my opinion makes everything sound a bit crisper. That's what I'm currently using now.
The main reason I knocked off a star is the SPDIF/TOSLINK functionality. I have the Samsung UN65TU7000 TV which only comes with two HDMI ports, and was hoping to use the TOSLINK cable for the audio as HDMI Arc would take up one of my only two slots. Unfortunately when I tried this, my TV remote would not work with the volume controls, and I had to use the controller that came with the sound bar to control the volume. Additionally the sound still comes through the speakers as well (unless you change the settings, which are not very user friendly) which led to dual overlapping audio streams. This was fixed with HDMI Arc, which allowed me to control the volume with my TV remote and removed the 'dual stream' issue - I just wish this could have been done with the SPDIF as well, which was a much worse experience than I was expecting.
The Bluetooth functionality is...fine. This model (and the T550 and T450) does not work with SmartThings so there is no way to control the sound bar via Bluetooth from your phone; this functionality is reserved for Samsung's higher end soundbar models. This was another small disappointment for me, as, again, I was expecting more integration with the TV, which does support Bluetooth connectivity via SmartThings.
There is going to be a delay between the audio and video streams if you're using Bluetooth. I would recommend it for music only; you would not want to watch any video with the Bluetooth connection.
One more minor quibble - the information screen is located on the 'top' of the sound bar rather than the 'front' - you are not able to see any info unless you're standing directly over the bar. This may be common for sound bars - not sure - but I would have preferred to have the display screen on the front of the device, so that I don't have to walk over to it every time I'm changing the settings.
Overall this is probably one of the best sound bars you can get for the price. If you have no issues with using HDMI ARC (which I STRONGLY recommend, if your TV supports it) and are OK with low bass that's merely 'adequate' (but still pretty good), and barebones Bluetooth functionality, this is the sound bar for you.
The design of it fits well with my apartment. Love that the subwoofer connects with Bluetooth so I don't have a wire running through my living room. Some people put the subwoofer behind their couch, but I read it should ideally be in front of you, too, so that's what I did.
Remote looks sleek, though falls off things a little too easily because it's curved. Volume needle-thingy is pretty cool because you don't accidentally turn it down when you wanted to turn it up and vice versa in the dark, you can feel that the remote is in your hand correct and you just press the needle thingy forward/up.
Also, note the separate volume needle thingy specifically for the subwoofer! I didn't see it for the first few days! You can turn the subwoofer down or up quite a bit. Turned down all the way, it sounds very tinny and empty (I think not because the soundbar sounds horrible without it, but because the soundbar is purposely leaving those frequencies to the soundbar because it's better equipped to handle it). Turned up all the way, the bass is too overpowering. I have the subwoofer turned up to +3, which seems to fit everything nicely (I'm a big fan of my Sony M3 headphones, which are a little on the bass heavy side, too)
Love that I can easily connect my phone to the soundbar and play music - sounds much better than my conveniently portable UE Megaboom. It doesn't autoconnect to my phone when I turn it on like my portable speak, though that would probably be annoying anyway since it's more often used for TV.
I use this soundbar for listening to music streamed through my phone while working from home, washing dishes, and cooking. I use it for streaming on my Chromecast with Google TV. And I use it for my 4k DVD player. I'm highly satisfied with it, and recommend people to not wait as long as I did to get a high quality soundbar! I hope it lasts me for years, it seems like it will.
