Top customer reviews
Note that this webcam is incredibly cheaply made - kids meals at the drive-through contain toys that are of higher quality. The base actually does suction onto surfaces - for a minute, then the seal goes away. The microphone works on mine, but poorly. The camera is loosely placed into the larger round holder and wobbles. The rim advertises "10X Option Zoom," which is humorous, along with other bogus pseudo-text that sounds vaguely photo-related.
Of course, at this price point, none of this should surprise you. The camera itself works, in an early 2000s cellphone camera sort of way, and it's easy enough to take it apart (although doing so will destroy the case).
I was really excited when I found it was coming a day earlier than expected. But upon opening the box,
it was just thrown in to the box haphazardly, with SO much packing material, that really DID NOT protect the item at all.
I was willing to over look that.
When I finally did look at the webcam, it was NOT as photographed.
Its a cheap boggle head of a cam.
The cam itself is surrounded by hollow plastic (the red part)...and moves around inside it LIKE A BOGGLE HEAD DOLL!.
It doesn't even work!
The mic is cheap too. It works.. but it sucks SO BADLY! You have to get so close for it to pick up.
The base wont even stay on the cam, nor the desk.
I want to return this...but either way... Im still losing money. I should have just bought a mic instead of this disappointment.
Im not happy... I wonder what the people with 5/5 stars got when they opened their package... because I'm rather upset with it.
First of right of the bat, i seen the many bad reviews to address a few things.
* The suction cup is not working*
YES it DOES, instead of wining about it, just set it on the surface you want it to "suck" onto and TWIST the BASE of the camera until you hear a "CLICK" sound. There you go, your most welcome...
*The mic sounds soft, and ticks*
Easy solution, is to update your audio drivers, and or make sure you got the proper drivers installed. YES, i had this problem and YES i solute it in less then 2 min straight by letting W7 do all the hard labor.
*It's not a 5MP webcam*
No it is not indeed, as MOST webcam distributors do, it's just a normal res cam that interpolates to 5mp. This means it up scales the image to 5mp. This means, by SOFTWARE IT IS A 5mp, and NO there is no illegal adverting involved. It's called marketing, get use to it. Completely normal and nothing "OMG REALLY?!" about it.
That being said, no application (skype, AOL, whatever more) does not require anything near 5mp.
It's a webcam folks, that does precisely that what it needs to do stream video meant for chatting. And i am more then impressed by this cam. For the few bucks you pay, this cam is more then clear and good of audio.
The only downside of this cam is, it's cheaply constructed all plastic and flimsy feel to it. That being said, 6 bucks people, i never understood why a Logitec should be 130usd with similar resolutions (yes, yes talking actual resolutions of this cam)
Easy to install too, certainly for W7 users it's plug and play..
also the front lens part is loose and does not stay stationary..its wobbly all over the place. it is so hard to adjust on one if u get one that u can even adjust. I say this because they was sweet and sent me a new one but it also had the same issues. but I did get a small adjustment. but still so blurry it wasn't worth the time my computer took to recognize it. the company was sweet and responded quickly..but this cam sucked. don't even bother with it. I finally got one from Wal-Mart for 8 dollars and its better and worth a better price.. I would have bought off amazon but they didn't carry the one I liked at this time. its a vantage webcam I got so cheap and its worth more. V7CS0300-1N. try to get here as well.
