I have done some testing with the 8x lens kit. It is far better then using the digital zoom on the iPhone 4s which produces a lot of grain when zoomed to max. the center of the pictures taken with the 8x lens are very good, but the farther from the center you get worse the picture gets. i would estimate you lose about 25% of the picture and all 4 corners are either black or out of focus. You can crop the pictures and have a pretty decent picture of something which is very far away. overall i think it is a decent product that works and what can you expect for under $20. i will be keeping it.

I was very happy when ordering the item, but very unhappy when I open the package. Nothing of what I recieved was anything like in the picture or description. Did not recieve carrying puch, tripod, end caps for lens, cool iphone like box. Lens was a cheap poor grade material. Phone case was cheap clear plactic with lens adpater hot glued on. I ended up buying the exact picture through another site and recieved exactly as described and pictured!! The only positive thing I got from transaction with amazon was the refund. I dont know if this was brainydeal's scam or amazons. Either way I was very displeased

This product does enhance the zoom capabilities of the iPhone, but it is virtually impossible to focus the lens. When you turn the lens to focus the image you simple unscrew the lens from the flimsy plastic case to which it attaches. The lens is very resistant to being adjusted. The price is affordable for what you get, but if the picture is out of focus even slightly there is nothing you can do about it without putting down the phone and using both hands to firmly adjust the lens.

Item arrived more or less as pictured, but it did not come in the iPhone-esque box. Otherwise, the case was better than expected--it fit my phone well and the lens stayed firmly connected even while focusing. Even better, there is enough space to super glue the little metal rings for the magnetic mount lenses and still mount the telephoto with no problems.

The tripod is thoroughly average, but does its job. The bag and lens cloth are as expected--made of fabric--what more can you say about them? The tripod mount is functional and good enough for general use, but its hold is not terribly secure. I mean, I wouldn't use it to attach the phone to a car or anything, but I shook it around some and my phone didn't go anywhere. It is worth noting I had my phone in the provided case at the time; the hold is much less secure with just a naked iPhone.

I've left the lens until last, because I've not had a chance to really test it out. I can tell you from the quick shots I've taken so far it is definitely not competing with even the most budget SLR lenses, but it is passable. Sharpness is very weak around the edges and there's a slight vignetting on my iPhone 4 in stills mode, but it looks pretty sharp in the center. Overall it is a fun toy and, in light of the price, not a bad deal. Just don't expect you're going to replace any cameras.

In all, I'm pleased, but your mileage may vary. It seems like no two boxes (or non-boxes as the case may be) are the same. In fact, there was a pack of miscellaneous hardware in the bag with my stuff that definitely doesn't go with this. This is all your typical mass-produced Chinese kit, so quality control is likely low and you risk getting some duds (or extra/missing parts). That said, I'm hard-pressed to find anything truly bad with this kit as I received it. Well, okay, the instructions are abysmal.

Gave this to a friend who is a lover of iphones and picture taking. The pieces are flimsy and completely annoying and tedious to put together. I watched her assembling it, and was cringing that I gave such a shabby piece of junk.

I don't know what people expect for under $15 but I think this gadget it pretty nifty. I took a picture with the iPhone without the attached lens as close up as I could get it. Then I attached the lens (super easy to do) and took it again and I was able to get a picture much closer with pretty good clarity. Again, you get what you pay for. You're not going to get the quality of an SLR camera with a zoom lens. Keep in mind that you're taking pictures with an iPhone...so you're only going to get what the iPhone can produce. If you want a greater picture, take a darn camera with you. I'm always amazed at the expectations of people giving reviews, especially when they pay so little money. It absolutely does what it advertises. The tripod is a bit flimsy and personally don't even know why they include it. I mean if you're really going to bother with a tripod while taking pictures on your iPhone, then you may want to rethink what you're doing.

First of all, I want to say that the Telephoto lens works great. Fine tuning the focus was easy, and I'm happy with the quality of pictures that I've taken with it. Obviously it's not gonna be the same quality as it would be with a Canon, Nikon, or Pentax, but it does the job, and it's fun to use. I especially like it's small and sleek, and it comes with it's own pouch.

Cons: I tried using the tripod, but two of the tripod legs just fell off. Customer Service suggested I return it, but it wasn't a big deal and I could easily fix it with Krazy Glue.

Overall, I'm glad I bought these lens from this vender. Photojojo sells it for $35, who are the manufacturers, so I was happy to have found them at half the price.
