I really like the fact that IDE drives plug in directly without cables like the StarTech. HOWEVER... IDE performance has been a little flaky. I had one drive that was working, but after a reboot, it insisted I needed to format the drive to use it. I plugged it in to the StarTech, and it works perfect. I have had no problems with SATA performance. Overall, the StarTech is a better product for IDE, but you will need to use the included cables.

This unit has worked flawlessly through the holiday season makeing DVD family movie disks for presents. The home movies were kept on backup HDDs. This dock then allowed me to connect to my pc for conversion and burning. I also use it for data transfer backup, where the 3.0 USB speed is so apparent. I have seen 300MB per second where 10-11Mbps were the norm for my 2.0 USB two year old unit. All burns were clean and no errors noted. No flier disks resulted. Get it. The Memory card readers are an added bonus.

I bought the "USB 3.0 IDE SATA HDD Hard Drive Docking Station" at the end of Jan 2013. At the first use (I use an IDE HDD to back up my data from PC), it had some problems if I copy a bigger file. It hung my PC and I have to turn it off to make my PC back alive. It happened so often that I can not even use it. One day on Feb, when I try to back up my data to the IDE HDD, my PC cannot even load it (it just shows "local disk" and I cannot open it. I was busy so I gave up. I try to mount it to my PC the other day and found the same thing... It is NOT working at all now. It hung my file manager software and keep reading... I saw a lot of people write bad review about their USB2 device, I think they will do better on the new USB3 product, but I am so disappointment!!! It is a piece of junk. It is so unstable. My advise is to buy just connection line and it is cheaper...

The small CD driver / software included in the package is also NOT readable! Although I do not to use one button backup system now, it looks like all of their product are not working at all.

Boy, when I received this I thought this would be Great. But was I ever wrong. Haven't been able to get it up and running and when I wrote to the seller, I did not get a timely response. Actually non at all. If I can sell it I will. I could not understand the disk that came with it because it was in Chinese and I couldn't get it switched over to English, so I did not know what drivers I was loading and got to the point that I boxed it back up and it is sitting in the garage. Buyer be ware!!!!!
