The hero was really hard to like. Although severely abused emotionally because of being a half-breed in this era, he was actually a real jerk. Tough and stubborn to the point of being ridiculous. You want to just throw up your hands and cry uncle at some point. Enough is enough. One reviewer points out that it is very unbelievable the heroine who was a spoiled little rich girl for a short time, would adapt to life with a brutal Native American tribe was simply unbelievable. It was. It was ridiculous.A BIT OF A SPOILER: I never warmed to the heroine who actually spent most of the book not in love with the hero and taking BS from her sister who was abducted by Indians and rescued but completely ungrateful. I hated the sister. Her unfair prejudice really went too far to be believable and I wanted to thrash her a good one for hating Lance, treating her stupid sister the way she did and causing the trouble she caused. She should have met with an accident in the end.
He agrees but demands a promise that she will marry him as payment! This story is just wonderful as the 2 main characters develop. Can they learn to trust each other? Will they survive to find Amelia? Great ending! I am now a confirmed van of Nichole Jordan!! If you love historical American Indian romance, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU!
The story also provides a glimpse of Native American culture, which I found quite interesting. There is a certain chemistry between the main characters and to top it off Jordan interweaves riveting sensual and romantic scenes in the story, making it all the more exciting. This book is hard to find. I ended up ordering from an amazon seller (earth_books), and am so glad I did. Looking forward to more books by this author.
I recommend Ltd highly to others.lance is a strong and complex character.
I strongly recommend this book if you want a well-written old western romance novel.
