Also, did I mention they hold air pressure wonderfully? I have to top off my tubes once every couple months with these bad boys.
Note that the tires are directional, be sure to mount them so they rotate in the direction molded into the tire.
I plan to replace the other two tires with Marathon Plus (same size). I only ordered one initially because I was concerned about problems in mounting the tires. The extra cost is worth it to me if it eliminates the hassle of repairing a flat miles from home.
In my first month of ownership, I had a small sharp rock completely penetrate the tire and hit the tube. I realize no tires are perfect, but I've never had a small rock cut through a tire. I also experienced poor traction when taking a turn on wet roads. Again, never a problem with the previous Nimbus tires.
Based on my short experience, I cannot recommend these tires.
The 700x35 fits the 29” easily with the 700x35 tube. Since the trails are mostly paved, I decided to save money and get this road version. To my surprise, it fits! This road tire rolls a lot faster for the amount of watts you put into the pedal. Haven't checked it yet, but is seems like I'm going faster. I reached the max pedal potential at the lowest gear on the MTB with these tires. Before it took a lot more effort. The downside on a MTB, is you feel more bumps as the tires are inflated to a higher pressure, and going over gravel beats the crud out of you. On the upside, riding on smooth concrete feels like you're flying.
I bought these to replace the almost new Specialized factory tires on my AWOL. The factory tires SUCKED so bad I was getting constant flat tires on the front only. No problems on or in the rim either. I am really hoping these tires solve that problem. Fingers crossed!
ONE ITEM TO NOTE: After I installed the tires I rode the bike multiple times for short 4-10 mile rides. It rolls SO SMOOTHLY with these tires on it!
