This book seems like one big advertisement for VMware's VeloCloud SD-WAN product. I felt like I was reading a super-long vendor brochure.

My back ground is application development and architecture. We were recently challenged with bandwidth issues at our stores when we started streaming videos between stores over the MPLS network. Just around the same time I found this book and started reading about SD-WAN. As soon as got the book I read the first chapter and thought I understood everything and what else would be in the rest of the book. Amazingly it had the perfect real time scenarios and retail stores network diagrams in the next few chapters in the book.
We have already made a decision and are running the the Velo cloud POC in few of our stores and are very happy with the performance.
I definitely recommend this book for anybody with or without prior knowledge of SD-WAN.

Basically a sales letter for velocloud, and not a good one at that. Avoid, if you want anything substantial about SD-WAN

If you are a VMware customer this book gives a great introduction to VeloCloud technology that is now part of VMware. The book starts with the basic building blocks of what the current challenges with networking and the new data center and then defines what SD-WAN does. What makes VeloCloud technology so unique in the market is the integration with NSX and other VMware virtualization technology to help build cloud based infrastructure.

I completed reading the book and found it very valuable. The book provides insights into challenges networks face today and how SD-WAN can help. Given SD-WAN is just picking up popularity, this book helps put things in perspective. I am glad I do not have to change much in my network to adapt SD-WAN.

Covers how SD-WAN can simplify WAN networking for a variety of verticals and shows concrete migration steps to modernize your network. This is a great reference if you are new to SD-WAN !

The book explains again and again how the SDWAN key features may be implemented in every kind of network and sector. It's a nice overview for consultants that are seeking for arguments to sell an implementation but does "not" explain: installation, configuration, HA, backup, restore or disaster recovery
