Center holes aren’t centered

I didn’t expect super high quality but this is just silly. The center security holes on many of the Torx and Allen bits is way off center. Even if the hole is bigger than necessary allowing the tool to work, getting so close to the edge must seriously weaken the bit. In a couple cases, the bit is paper thin between the off center hole and outer edge of bit.

Overall I wouldn't recommend buying these for any security bit application since the precision is so low that there's a strong chance it won't even work. Maybe some of the trip-wing bits would work alright, though with the overall level of quality I don't think they would last long in any serious or repeated applications. Also, it sounds like this set doesn't work for the Wii! I imagine it wouldn't work on any small computer or electronics devices as the bits are just too large and lack precision.
So in short, even at $4-5 it isn't worth it unless you know that you don't need precise stuff! Its better to just buy quality tools/bits in the first place. Though I did like the case/enclosure, so its not a complete loss.

I bought these to take apart an electric fan that had a couple hex security bolts holding it together. As soon as I opened the package I realized how cheaply made these things were - the holes on many of the security bolts were misaligned, likely rendering them useless. I wasn't able to use these bits for the fan, though it wasn't the bits fault - the extension I bought just wouldn't fit in the hole into the fan. So maybe I'll be able to use these for another project later on, but we'll see.By Arbitrage on October 2, 2012
