Power 30X (Approximately)

Power 30X (Approximately)
The Loupe is great, but as soon as i got it, on the outside of the box it says that its approximately 30X. I also ordered the 10X & 20X combo and this one is as strong as the 20X. One way you can use them is to place them in front of any digital camara lence to be aible to get really good close ups. see photos.

This is so fun as a gift for a budding paleontologist., entomologist. My son collects fossils he finds and this is so fun to use to look at them. It works great. It is inexpensive and a fun thing for little boys to have to check out bugs, fossils, rocks, and more.
It comes with a little plastic case which makes it seem cool and special to a young boy. My son was 6 when he got it. Be careful not to drop at as it will break. My son has a chip in his glass now that is missing but it still works. If lost or broken it is cheap enough to buy more than one.
Magnifies more than his fisher price toy microscope does which is pretty cool. Fun to use and see things close up, yet fits in your pocket. Great to explore the world.

I purchased this because I like to collect coins and needed something with a lot more power than a magnifying glass, yet is much smaller. This jewelers loupe is exactly what fit that bill. When I first saw it's price I figured it was going to be all plastic, but the magnification would be strong enough to see very fine details in coins; I was very pleased to see that the casing is made out of very heavy and sturdy polished steel. The lenses are in fact glass, and the magnification is awesome. Some say that it is more like 10 or 15 power, but mine sure magnifies those small details at 30 power! It focuses perfectly on whatever you are looking at up close through the loupe, be it coins, stamps, bugs, microprinting, etc... A case is also included to store the loupe in. Cleaning the lenses of the loupe is quite easy, merely use a damp q-tip and gently stroke the lenses free of any smudges. Other than that this little guy is well worth the money for the quality and magnification. These are priced just right to give as novelty gifts to friends and family, which I am going to do around the holiday season as stocking stuffers.

I bought this little mechanism for the purpose of inspecting my orchids and other household plants for fungus and tiny unseen bugs. I would recommend this to be a household tool for anyone. The magnification is amazing! It certainly has served its purpose as I was able to see as close as the microscopic hairs on my plants as well as the contents of the dirt. It takes getting to know the exact distance from the object you're looking at as well as the distance from the eye to the magnified glass. I've enjoyed it so much I found other things to use it for, jewelry and even my cat's coat. I have even experimented with my iphone camera, placing the magnified glass to the lense and taking pics of an orchid bloom. Very neat!! Took a few weeks to arrive but well worth the wait

For the money, the is a fairly decent magnifying glass. Don't really expect it to be thirty power, though. It is more or less ten power as far as I can figure by comparing it to several expensive Hastings triplets I own.

Where they got the "approximately 30x" from is anyone's guess unless they were trying to rate the thing by area magnification as opposed to linear magnification. In this case they got the formula wrong.

Magnifiers are usually rate linearly, in that a 2x magnifier should make a one inch line appear two inches. This is the same as binoculars and other magnifying instruments though there is some kind of convention, I believe, of a standard ten inches with reading glass magnifiers.

Whatever--the thing does have glass lenses as far as I can tell and it comes in a nifty little plastic box. It is a great little lens for a geology student or a nature buff and, at the price, makes a novel little gift.

I was in the market for a fairly high power, but cost effective magnification product. This product fit the bill perfectly. I can't verify 30x power, but I can say that I can the see the smallest dots of ink on my aviation charts! For the price, I couldn't be happier :) (~$8, ~13 w/ shipping)

p.s. If you have never used a loupe, the area that is magnified is very small. You must look at the direct center of the loupe. The loupe will need to be close to the object ( < 1 inch) and you will have to get close up to the loupe ( < 6 inch).

There is no way this thing is 30x, but the build quality is very good - appears to be metal and glass. Based on the other reviewers I was not expecting much, but for my uses (hobbyist) and the price, I think it's a good bargain.

Be prepared to wait a while for the shipment, it really does take the "slow boat from China", took almost a month to arrive. For the price, it's a good enough value.

This product exceeded all my expectations.

First, the 30x magnification loup provided very clear images, and good optical qualities, and capable of incredible detail.

The lens seems to be glass (as opposed to acrylic or plastic), and the housing is a good grade, sturdy steel with a highly-polished finish.

It comes packaged in a nice clamshell plastic case, for permanent storage, if one desires.

All in all, I was very impressed with the quality, price, usefulness, and speed of shipping.

A very good find.

The loupe is great at 30x magnification @ 21mm apart from zoom surface, this thing'll let you spot specs of dust between your finger prints(in amlicable lighting.) With absoloute ease, I could spot small dents in my knives I never knew existed. etc. It has a one inch peer, that is large enough that any person would need. It's not ideal for book reading or such but if your in the buisness for precision magnification of things such as splinters and the like then this is great for you as it also quite compact at about an inch and a half. Im very satisfied with this product. And the customer pictures are what you get, it arrives in a small box, and in that box is a plastic case (which you can take the felt out and use it to stash coins in) an in the plastic display case is your loupe. Great product.
