it was amazing
I loved Vanessa's spirit, she seemed to pretty much adopt Chase as hers without even thinking about it. She didn't care that sometimes she made him look completely incapable of looking after himself let alone protecting anyone, or that she had made him the butt of jokes among the guys for the future. But that is what makes her special and I think they all realise that early on, and Chase certainly recognises it and returns it. The story itself starts out in a war zone but moves quickly back to the USA, with Chase having his past catch up and put not only himself but Vanessa and the boys at risk. Lots of action, some violence and some sexual content as well as some really sweat moments with the interaction with the kids. Some funny bits as well which I loved, it gave the book a whole mix of emotions. From extremely serious to the funny. The story matter itself is quite serious, both Chase's part and the reasons behind the boys being immigrants, not to be taken lightly despite the light hearted patches. A great addition the this fantastic military series and definitely worth reading. It is possible to read this as a stand alone, but I love reading a series from the beginning and getting to know the characters and their stories throughout, in doing so keeping the continuance.
The four star rating is given for an interesting thriller and excellently-crafted characters. The detractor is because the dialogue is stilted and too formalized for the vernacular of the SEALS. I had expected to see more maturity in the writing at this point in the series.
At eighteen, Chase ran toward the Navy and away from is old life in a Chicago street gang. Now his past has come to California to seek him out, but his past is putting everyone and everything he holds dear in danger.
Seals of Honor: Chase is the tenth book in the series. I can't say that it's my favorite book of the series, but like the others by author Dale Mayer, I love the characters in the unit and the women they have chosen to love. Also, like the others, the intimate scene and language is not as intense as what is usually found within military genre.
All in all, a good read with a HEA.
