Children are trained all their lives for the big day, selection day where the students train and compete during the week leading up to this day to see who is the best in their class. The students with the highest scores will be able to choose if they would like to be a vampire, a werewolf, a donor or a breeder or banished to the Wastelands.
I think The Chosen is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It is well written and the story just flows along real nicely. I could see everything I was reading in my head as if I was watching a movie. It reminded me of so much of The Hunger Games and Divergent.
The world building was out of this world grand. Once I picked up The Chosen I couldn’t lay it down until I had turned the last page. I can’t give The Chosen enough praise or find the right words to tell you how much I really enjoyed this one. I can’t wait to dive into the next book The Hunted to see how A53 and the rest of the crew fair in their new lives.
The Chosen is filled with so much suspense, action, and excitement and it was so intense that it caught my attention from the very beginning and I was so enthralled that I lost all sense of time.
I highly recommend The Chosen Sector C book one to all fans of the futuristic dystopian worlds.
This author is one of my favorite authors to read. I was simply delighted to be chosen to read this story. It was so uniquely different from her "Blood Angel" series. I quickly inhaled it within a few hours. This story was simply amazing. The only downfall is I have to wait for the next installment. I hope I want have to wait too long.
The pace of the story is smooth and steady throughout the story, but fast when action occurs. This author has a natural way to ensnare the senses and emotions of the reader to allow for a better flow and personification of her characters. I found the storyline to be unique and original. Though, vampires and werewolves are involved, the concept of how Sector C was founded makes this very unique. I found my curiosity piqued. To which I found I had many questions throughout the story. That's a great sign. This story will keep you on your toes (so to speak) wondering if the twists and turns of this story will cease.
The main/secondary characters were well written. They were made realistically and believable given their situations. They appear to be strong, but having doubts and confusion, like what normal teenagers go through. Some are made to be strong, smart, humorous, selfish, brave, troublemakers, and questioning things that don't make sense.
This story does contain light romance, betrayal, suspense, intrigue, and mystery. Which IMO, makes a great story. I recommend this story to all readers. This is the first book in this series. Can't wait to get the next one.
I want go into the storyline, because readers will want to read the book description. All I can say is that: This is a great story.....Get it now.
The book cover is awesome. I love the letter/number scheme, making it very unique. I found no mistakes in grammar, so that I had no difficulty in reading this story. If you love to read about vampires/werewolves/outcasts this is one story you don't want to pass on.
This was an interesting book about another dystopian future where those living have to choose between becoming a vampire or lycanthrope, and if they don't fit the mold they become food or breeders. I really enjoyed that this had a twist on the way the future was.
So let's get to this review. At first I didn't like this book, I'll be honest. The first few chapters were a little too heavy on the information and I felt like some of the information could have been spread out throughout the book. I also got super confused when someone referred to Sector C and the character C. In fact the characters being called just by letters, while I understood it, really bothered me. After a time I wasn't sure if the character was a boy or girl or who was even talking, so to say it was a little disconcerting is an understatement. Also, there wasn't much description of the way the characters looked, I finished the book and have no idea what the main character looked like.
That being said, I did enjoy this book. The newness of the idea (choosing between vampirism and lycanthropy) was fascinating. How does one decide if they want to be one or the other for the rest of their lives? After getting through the first couple of chapters this was a fast read, and enjoyable. It's absolutely a YA novel as there is a romantic relationship which is sexy without sex. The characters are all pretty much teenagers, and the end left me hanging and wanting to read the next book.
I really look forward to seeing where Ms. Soden goes with this series, and I am interested in seeing what might be outside of sector C.
