Do not expect this to taste like alcohol, you must layer flavors

If you are expecting this to have the bite of alcohol, you will be disappointed. It seems that the reason this product is getting bad reviews is because it is not being used the correct way. I feel they are expecting it to takes like vodka, for example, without the alcohol which is not correct. It needs to be used as a base and build the flavors on top of it. You cannot simple mix it with a spirit and expect a flavorful drink. It takes some knowledge of flavors and pairings to male this product shine.

This is a very interesting product. It gives the taste of alcohol (without the bite) however it is alcohol free. This is currently the only company worldwide that produces a product like this distilling herbs and then adding water so it gives a mocktail a “grown up” taste without the alcohol. This specific bottle has a strong cardamon scent and flavor which is much to my liking.

It is not very appealing by itself but does pair well with flavored carbonated sodas and juices. I shook 3oz of this with 0.5 rhubarb syrup and 0.25oz lemon juice with ice then topped off with grapefruit soda. It was a big hit! I think adding some basil would really elevate it.

From our allies across the pond, those with whom we fought shoulder to shoulder in countless wars, who have provided us with such nectars known as “highland scotch” & “guinness”, comes Froglip, I mean Seedlip. As a trained physicist, my life’s mission as been the advancement of science; but I now know this has been folly. I now know that I must complete my time machine, travel back to 1650 London, find the monster who devised this recipe, and stealthily destroy all copies. Had the allies known that Seedlip might again see the light of day, we might have been at war with them instead of the Axis powers. But in the end, if you wish to spend $34 as I did (based on + reviews), to drink compost juice, feel free. The plucky Brits will only laugh, as they march to the pub.

Complex, Adult flavor!

As someone who can't drink due to an alcohol allergy this is a godsend! When I make virgin cocktails with this it has a complex adult (not sweet) taste. I think a lot of people who can't drink will really appreciate this especially when the only virgin options are usually super sugary lemonades/soda etc. The bottle is pricey but so are nicer spirits so I don't mind, although I do hope more bars/restaurants will stock this as it's the kind of thing I'd love to order while out.
It seems like people are upset this doesn't taste exactly like gin, but I think you need to have an open mind, it's a unique product with a unique taste and mixed with tonic waters etc. it really tastes amazing.
If you can handle alcohol I think you'd be more likely to brush this product aside as it's expensive and not exactly a replacement for gin, but if you're someone who has to stay away from alcohol (or is really motivated to cut back) let me tell you it's worth it!

Hmmm. Seems like a work in progress. I tried some straight out of the bottle (of course!) and it tasted like flavored water. I tried some with the suggested serve, tonic and peas, and it tasted like a grown-up drink. Ditto with tonic and lime. But it smells a little weird. I’m thinking of experimenting with juniper berries to get a more ginnish flavor...and I’ll try the Exotic flavor, I guess, to see if it’s like Opihr. The price is ridiculous and I wouldn’t buy much - see the picture for what $40 buys you in reasonable booze and not-booze - until the price comes down. But I’m still thinking about this one. Nice effort.

Update: I tried soaking juniper berries in it and that improved it just a bit, but not enough. It comes down to the smell, which I really dislike (and I'm a country girl). I'd try the Exotic flavor, but not at $40 after already blowing $40 on this flavor. I really, really wanted to like this, and I'm intrigued by the way it transforms tonic into an "adult beverage," but it's just not for me. Sorry.

It's dry January, so I *really* wanted to like this. It arrived, I sipped it. I took a shot. I tried it with tonic, I tried it with soda. It may be distilled and include very interesting ingredients, but it's not flavorful at all. Imagine Angostura bitters, but diluted about 90%--or a big glass of water with a small lemon wedge. I'm not exaggerating, and I'm usually a supertaster. Very disappointing, although if you're not a drinker, I suppose it would make you feel a bit more social than a bottle of evian.

If you're looking at this, just go find yourself some non-alcoholic bitters of some kind, and you'll be happier.

Unrelated, I was simmering some cinnamon sticks in water to make the house smell nice after cooking some onions. I kept refilling the water as it evaporated, and simmered/boiled it for about 2 hrs. I had the idea to save the dark cinnamon water. Turns out that cinnamon gets a bit bitter when boiled. My cinnamon water was *far* more flavorful and useful as a mixer with some tonic and/or soda. So for the rest of January, I'll be experimenting with tap water + combinations from the spice cabinet, in lieu of this.

You're far, far better off saving your $40 and buying an herb or two. Trust me.

I'm giving this 5 stars because Garden was a revelation. It is so nice to have a such a sophisticated option for nonalcoholic drinks, and if only one of them could be a winner, I'm glad it's Garden. I don't even see the point of Spice. I feel like I paid $40 for a bottle of tap water in which someone once floated a clove and some allspice before straining it into a fancy bottle.

This delightful beverage was described as "gin adjacent", and that seems very accurate to me. Mixed with a little tonic water or sparkling water, my niece and I can enjoy cocktails with our spouses and not worry about alcohol. Very happy and excited to try the other flavors!

I feel so stupid for having spending 30 my hard earned dollars on this bottle of salted water. These people are cheating everyone: per label, 85% of the content is water so you're basically buying a giant diluted bottle of a non-alcoholic bitter with a bad taste. Going to the trash.

I’m not sure what all the 5 star reviews have received, but I received a bottle of flavoured water and paid £25 for the privilege.

Feels like a case of “The Emperor’s new clothes” - nice bottle, some good reviews, looks like gin, same price as gin, it must be gin. It’s not.

Feeling like a fool for paying £25 for water. Will not be buying again, would not recommend.

However, congratulations to the manufacturers for coming up with a product that people will pay a fortune for. Wish I had thought of it. Maybe posh crisps made from all my waste cardboard packaging…..

Lots of people do not drink for various reasons. Pregnancy, being a designated driver, a personal or family history of alcoholism, inability to metabolise alcohol, weight loss, sorting out hormone imbalance, cancer, liver issues etc... The list can be quite long and varied. So anyone who wonders what the point of this drink must live a very secluded life. It DOES NOT taste like flavoured water. It definitely tastes like a botanical spirit, but without the sharp bite of alcohol behind it, if that makes sense.

Personally, I wanted to stop drinking during the week because I felt it was not a healthy habit. But non-alcoholic/low-alcoholic wine is awful and I don't like juice or soft drinks. I do however like a Hendricks & tonic. I didn't bother with the Seedlip drinks until I ordered one when we were at a Sunday lunch where I was designated driver. It was so delicious I ordered my first bottle of Garden when I got home. I must admit I haven't even tried the other flavours because this one makes me so happy and allows me to continue my evening ritual of preparing a G&T with a slice and squeeze of lime without the calories, sleep interference and general habitual use that alcohol causes. I switch back to Hendricks and/or Gordons on the weekend and find no difficulty in switching between the two. Both are delicious and it is a great product.

My only complaint is that it wasn't around when I was pregnant...I remember thinking if I had to drink another Fentiman's Rose Lemonade I'd barf. A nice mildly bitter, botanical proper grown up drink like Seedlip would have been much better.

I want to love this more, I’ve really seen the brand grow from tasting sessions in John Lewis to national distribution - it’s very expensive for a non-alcoholic spirit and although the quality has been invested, it’s not really appreciated compared to simply having a tonic with fresh fruit or herbs.
Bought this for an auntie who doesn’t drink, could have saved my money and after trying again - I can’t recommend to anyone to try.

Super alternative to Gin without the calories, hangover if over indulging and able to hit the gym early without any guilt!

Having read other reviews saying it is a bit bitter and how people are adding sugar and sweet cordial (shudder) I do not have much of a sweet tooth and I have been mixing Seedlip with slimline tonic and not found it to be at all bitter or needing any sweetness added. It boils down to personal taste.
