- Easy to-dose tablet begins working within 30 minutes
- Available without a prescription
- Safe for use in dogs, puppies, cats and kittens 2 pounds of body weight or greater and 4 weeks of age and older.
A single dose of CapGuard Tablets should kill the adult fleas on your pet. If your pet gets re-infested with fleas, you can safely give another dose as often as once per day.
To give CapGuard Tablets, place the pill directly in your pet’s mouth or hide it in food. If you hide the pill in food, watch closely to make sure your pet swallows the pill. If you are not sure that your pet swallowed the pill, it is safe to give a second pill.
Treat all infested pets in the household. Fleas can reproduce on untreated pets and allow infestations to persist.
Safe for use in dogs and puppies 2 pounds of body weight or greater and 4 weeks of age and older.
Begin working within 30 minutes. In studies, CapGuard achieved greater than 90% effectiveness against adult fleas on dogs within 4 hours.
Safe for pregnant or nursing dogs.*
When using this product, you may notice that your dog will start scratching itself as fleas begin to die. The scratching behavior is temporary and is a reaction to the fleas, not the drug. In dogs, this may present as transient signs of hyperactivity, panting, vocalization and excessive grooming/licking.
Kill adult fleas that cause flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).
May be used together with other products, including heartworm preventatives, corticosteroids, antibiotics, vaccines, de-worming medications, shampoos and other flea products.
*In some instances, birth defects and fetal/neonatal loss were reported after treatment of pregnant and/or lactating animals.
Always read, understand and follow the label and use directions.

The fleas got pretty severe in my apartment to the point where I couldn't walk across the room without getting a dozen of the little suckers biting my ankles. I was about ready to give up and get the expensive flea treatments at the vet when I tried giving my dog tablets of Capguard. The next day all the fleas on her were gone and my puppy could finally relax for a while.
Killing the fleas on your dog is only 10% of the battle, I still had a huge amount of fleas/eggs/larvae living in the carpeting. Read anywhere on the internet and they will tell you to vacuum every day until they're gone. I tried that but the fleas would always regroup in seemingly greater numbers. I tried other solutions too like diatomaceous earth and flea sprays which also had no impact on the fleas. The only solution to cleansing my apartment of fleas was to start my dog on a Capguard regiment. The pill only works for about a day so I started giving my dog a new pill every 3 days with dinner. I chose 3 days since I believe it takes about 3 days for a flea to start producing eggs after feeding and I wanted them to be dead before being able to reproduce. After about a month the flea numbers were greatly reduced, in two months they appeared to be gone. At that point I reduced the frequency of the medication to once a week or so in case my dog picks up more fleas outside.
The active ingredient in Capguard is Nitenpyram, the same ingredient in Capstar which costs about $10 more than Capguard. There is no reason to get Capstar; it doesn't work any better and you are probably going to have to buy several boxes of this stuff so you might as well save some money.
I'm not joking when I say "declare war", because you will need a lot more than CapGuard to be successful in the battle of getting rid of them, we've only had a mild infestation and it was still very hard to get them all taken care of, but we took it very serious when we saw the first flea on our pets, and kept the infestation low, but with 4 large dogs and 3 cats living in our home, this was challenging. Here in the South, our neighbors battle fleas constantly, we never had to, I guess it was our turn *yikes*
I believe this product works longer than a day to an extend, I would say 2 days from my experience with it. So I gave them another pill on day 3, then on day 7.
IGR will be your best friend, I don't see how people do without. We tried and failed with the all natural remedies, of course I would have preferred them and also used them, but they weren't effective in the long run. I needed a product that ruined a fleas life cycle, which only a product with IGR will ensure. I used IGR throughout the house after trying for over a month to battle without but sooner or later, they came back. Treat your yard and outdoors as well if your pets go in and out. I also used Advantage II, and a natural product for our couch and beds. Wash, wash, wash all bedding multiple times a week, pet and human, pick up everything from the floors that could hide fleas, vacuum clean like a rock star and should be good in no time.
