This guide is easy to read and understand, even for those with a limited knowledge of the subject. It spells out in simple terms, the exact steps you need to take to make your website visible to the search engines.
One thing that made me happy about this book is that it's not hundreds of pages long. There is nothing more daunting than a reference book that weighs more than I do. I like that it assumes I am clever enough to understand the concepts and follow the steps without wasting my time with tons of repetition. It is also very helpful to see graphs and screenshots in the book, as well as directing me to links for free toolbars and spreadsheets to help with analysis.
Reading this book will provide you with all the tools you need to get ahead in the SEO game--it is truly an exhaustive guide. Throughout, the text refers to SEO as a battle. If that is the case then following the steps within this guide will most certainly lead you to victory. It is the only weapon you will need to wage war. The writing style throughout is condense and accessible yet by no means does it use the typical, boring language of other marketing reference materials. The examples, metaphors, and similes used to explain the more difficult concepts certainly serve as an added bonus for the SEO novice. You can tell these authors know how to achieve search dominance and that they want their readers to gain quality, lasting results. Specifically, I learned a great deal in the chapter which discussed competition analysis. This section parts the curtain to reveal the mystery behind determining what it will take to gain a number one position for a keyword--and even offers formulas to help with cost analysis. And certainly, anyone with a website could benefit from reading the section on traffic analysis. Ultimately, purchasing this text has provided me with a conceptual framework for generating keyword strategies. At the end of the day, it offers readers a cost-benefit analysis, weighing the returns in improving ones search rank with the cost of the work necessary to generate this improvement. I recommend this book to anyone wishing to gain a better understanding of SEO and anyone looking for a step-by-step guide on initiating a successful SEO Campaign for their website or company. I feel confident that I will return to this book again and again as my number one resource on keyword strategy.
When you do start using this book, I'd suggest skimming through it at first, and then sitting down at the computer and working through the steps as you read them. It's not a book you can just pick up, read through, and walk away knowing exactly how to choose your keywords. It's a book that shows you exactly how to do the research and analyzing, so trying it out as you along is the best approach, I think. You'll also need to set aside quite a bit of time and concentration, and won't be able to do it all in one sitting by any means, but it's definitely worth it.
I think the skills I've learned from this book will help me immensely with my SEO and keyword strategies for the long-term. I'm still in the process of analyzing my keywords, but I feel much more confident that I'll be able to pick the most lucrative ones for my site.
