~The Rebecca Review
All this being said everything he said is true, but general SEO knowledge. If you are looking for something more this book is not for you, if you are clueless when it comes to SEO this book will be great for you..really. Hope this is helpful, wish i had read this review.
My only reservation is that he references his own website which is not not operational any longer. I wrote to him through the book website and he said it is because he sold that business. I was hoping to see how he optimized it. That was the only disappointment.
Ok, that was the good, now for the bad point of this Kindle version of the book. I cannot speak for the printed version as I have not seen it; but the Kindle version is filled with printing error. These are not grammatical error but formatting issues. You will be reading along and all of a sudden you will come across a sentence that is half there or out of context. Sometimes I was able to figure it out and other I just gave up.
The only other thing that I didn't care for (and this is just one of the things I personally don't like in any book) is the constant pitch to visit his website where there are a group of affiliate links to product he's promoting. I have nothing against anyone promoting affiliate links or telling you to visit their website, but I prefer to see it maybe in the beginning, once or twice during the middle and then at the end. There are far more than that.
Because of these two very minor negative points that I mentioned I have to give it a four star rating. If you are new to SEO or don't understand it fully then this is the book for you. You will learn a great deal about SEO and how to use it to your advantage.
And that's why it rocks.
Fleischner spells things out as simply as possible, and gives you a clear list of things you can do RIGHT NOW to help improve your website's search engine ranking (mainly on Google, but it'll ultimately affect all search engines). And by "your site," I mean any website, whether it's a personal blog, a corporate informational website, a phone call lead-generating website, or a big-time eCommerce shopping site. It explains why you need to do what is presented, gives you tons of clear and effective advice on how to do it, and even gives you a few tools to check up on your competitors.
SEO is not something that happens over night, but it is something that you can literally start working on after only a couple pages with this book. Follow it step-by-step, and you'll see results in short order. I've used it for my company's existing websites and saw almost immediate improvement. We're not at #1 yet, but we went from Page 10 of Google's search results (horrible!) to Page 2 in a matter of days! That's pretty unbelievable. Getting to #1 is no longer a struggle; it's a simple list of things to do each month, and we're already well on our way.

I found it very, very interesting and approachable. I haven't had time to put any of the advice into practice yet but I do intend to try.
Should I find my site climbing to the giddy heights of Page 1 of you 'You Know Who' then I will return and add the final star.
I return to add the fifth star. On several of my key word searches I have reached the dizzy heights of Google Page 1.
Thank you Mr. Fleischner.
I shall be reading the rest of the book, applying the advice given and hopefully I'll get a bit more traffic than I do currently.
I've spent two full days researching my website and my competitors and I have found, where I used to list for all 3 of my keywords in the top 3 I now only list for 1 of them on page 1. That was a shock. After doing my research I could see clearly why that was happening but more importantly I knew what to do to fix the problem.
I have now put that in to place and feel confident things are going to change for the better. I'm not stopping there, I'll be doing the off page SEO as often as I can from now, I am aiming to do an hour every day I'm in the office.
I've put a note in my diary for a month from now, so I'll come back and update you how I got on.
Having now read this book I do feel that the reader does need to have some internet savy about them, because although this book is written in simple english I did think a couple of times "I'm glad I understand what they means". This is now the 2nd SEO book I have read in the last week and the other book was not so simple.
So from the above SEO made simple is what it says. It's a simple method which will hopefully work and acheive great results. Out of both books (I feel it would be unfair to name the other) the processes form this book are my preferred options. The simplicity of this process and the way the author wrote the book is why I'm giving it 5 stars.
There are a few things though that I feel were difficult, hard to understand or left me puzzled, which are:-
1. As mentioned above, I want to target many key terms, if possible into hundreds (possibly thousands). Although the book does reference key phraseS I did feel it mainly focused on 1 or 2 key terms. I would prefer to understand how to target lots more in a campaign. If this is not possibel then it would be goodfor the book to state this.
2. The book referneces getting to the top of page one, which is great and what we are strive for, but I'd also like to know the effort required to maintain that position, is it the same amount of work or reduced amount. I know and understand the the author mentions it's an art which I complete understand and agree with and that 1 key term is not the same as the other. But I'd liek to know what the author does after he finishes a campaign.
3. I found the last chapter very helpful as I'm sure everyone does and I have viewed the "secret" page. As well as viewing the "secret" page I have also looked for reviews on the tools the author uses, and most of the reviews on all the tools state that they're good tools if you know how to use them otherwise they could damage your SEO - please don't let that scrae you. There are tutorials on teh secret websites themselves but they show you all features that are possible. So my point is that although the author mentions the tools he uses, going into detail about which aspects and how he uses them would be a great read. But again I understand it's an art, so it maybe a case that it varies for each campaign.
4. Maybe it's me but I am still a little confused about the article spinning. For exmaple in the book on page 141 there is a sentence that states "I usually have one or two articles per site queued up, spun and ready to go at the beginning of each month. I distribute these articles at a pace of around five per day to potential directories". This sentence says to me that the author distributes 5 of the SAME article every day. But I'm under the impression that articles need to be unique so wouldn't distributing the same article 5 times per day everyday for 1 month harm the campaign? If anyone knows the answer to this please do let me know.
Finally, I do want to say that if you want simple methods and are new'ish to SEO then this is a great read and will help. If a question comes into your head just keep reading by the end of the book pretty much all of my questions were answers. So it's definitely worth buying and hopefully following these methods we can acheive position one rankings.
I think the author was clear and engaging throughout. Why didn't I give it 5 stars you ask? Well, nothing wrong with the content. Only can I suggest that the author makes a table of contents with links to each section so it's easier to jump to a specific section? I think many users would find this useful :)
Michael speaks from real life experience, which is always welcome, advising on: on page to off page optimisation through to link building. This book will be a constant reference. Looking forward to the next edition aswell.
There is a wealth of useful tools and websites mentioned.
But most of all I discovered a number of things I had been doing wrong which was a great help.
Thanks for a great read.
Seems like a very trustworthy author, that knows what he is talking about
